Cavs Extend Mike Brown Despite Rocky Start

Despite the Cavaliers success in 2006-07, rumors were swirling around Mike Brown and the Cavaliers that the coach might be in a little bit of hot water. With his contract set to expire after next season, there were thoughts Brown would not be back should the Cavaliers not make it back into the playoffs this year. That speculation can end with the announcement the team has come to an agreement with Brown on a 2-year contract extension. With the new deal, Brown will be on the sidelines for the Cavs through the 2010/11 season.

No one will confuse Brown with he best coaches in the League, but he doesn’t have to be because he has the best player. Brown’s job is essentially keeping #23 happy while finding a way to get James to buy into what he is trying to do. You get James to buy in, you get the team. LeBron undoubtedly signed off on the move since it ensures Brown will remain with the team through the rest of LeBron’s current contract.
