Magic/Celtics Game 7 Open Thread

Hey all, Turk here. I'll be around in the future providing some front-page content here and there and helping out on FTS along with CavsBlogger and Buckeye Brad, but until then I just wanted to get an Open Thread going for what promises to be an entertaining Game 7 here. I'm still up in the air... I think we match up better with Boston, but I can't bring myself to root for them. Either way, it should be an entertaining game. Feel free to post thoughts and comments in here as the game goes along, and I'll hopefully provide some post-game "analysis."

Boston “fans” in rare form tonight. I don’t think there’s a less likeable team in the NBA than the Celtics.

Heck, two years ago celtic fans were coming to games with paper bags over their heads and screaming for Doc and Ainge to be fired

by WaveOcean on May 17, 2009 7:21 PM CDT up reply actions

I’m not sure I respect a single one of their players

by Turkmenbashi on May 17, 2009 7:22 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm tired of seeing them on my tv

Tired of seeing no one stop Rondo, tired of seeing Perkins and Glen get whatever they want in the paint, tired Pierce hitting shot after shot with a hand in his face, and tired of people saying how underrated Scatterbrain and Strawberry are.

by WaveOcean on May 17, 2009 7:24 PM CDT up reply actions

I just feel like they’re as arrogant as any team can be

speaking of which

I’m also tired of KG’s endless mugging for the camera.

Yep

by Turkmenbashi on May 17, 2009 7:27 PM CDT up reply actions

actually

scatterbrain and strawberry aren’t called underrated. They’re more like x factors. But I’m still tired of hearing about them

by WaveOcean on May 17, 2009 7:26 PM CDT up reply actions

I’m just amazed that these scrubs have taken Boston to a game 7

I hate to admit it

But this is the team that crushed us by 21

by WaveOcean on May 17, 2009 7:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Kinda like Red Sox fans, huh?

by Buckeye Brad on May 17, 2009 7:29 PM CDT up reply actions

It made me so sick. The Celtics and Patriots were both great yet they complained that their baseball team hadn’t won a WS in a while. How about Cleveland fans!?!?!? We haven’t won ANYTHING since ’64!

by Buckeye Brad on May 17, 2009 7:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Same way I feel about Chicago fans. What, 6 NBA titles and the best player in history wasn’t enough for you?

That does bode well for Orlando

Great start by Orlando, that’s quite surprising in Boston. We’ll see if they can keep it up.

They won't

just wait until the second half

by WaveOcean on May 17, 2009 7:34 PM CDT up reply actions

The tide already seems to be turning. I feel like the outcome of this game is inevitable. I just do not understand how Boston can keep running these scrubs out here and winning. I sure hope I’m wrong. Or do I? I really don’t know how I feel about playing Orlando in a 7 game series.

I'm *always* in the driver's seat, cugino -- Chuck

by Turkmenbashi on May 17, 2009 7:36 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm pulling for boston

They look easier to defeat, even if the magic know less about how to close out games than how to shoot free throws.

by WaveOcean on May 17, 2009 7:40 PM CDT up reply actions

That’s my initial thought, but I mean, when I see stuff like Glen freakin’ Davis hitting game-winning shots, it makes me nervous. It’s admittedly silly, like being afraid to play the Yankees because of the “Yankee Mystique” or “Yankee Aura.”

Wave, just a suggestion, try typing without using the subject line. It’s easier to type and makes it less distracting to read, without all those bold words sticking out. Turk and I got used to not using it at LGT and it’s much easier to read.

by Buckeye Brad on May 17, 2009 9:09 PM CDT reply actions

Thanks for showing up, Boston.

I was definitely rooting for the Celtics, because of all there reasons listed above and others. They’re arrogant, they’re shmucks, their fans are absolute jokes. That said the Celtics are The Man. To be the man, you’ve got to beat the man. And I’m confident that the Cavs would have won in 5 at worst; I think the Cavs would have had a 50/50 shot at winning Game 3 in Boston, and if they’re won that, would have been almost guaranteed yet another sweep. Orlando is going to be a much tougher series. Cavs in 6.

Il faut d'abord durer.

by CU Adam on May 17, 2009 9:14 PM CDT reply actions

I think the Cavs will beat Orlando in 5 — win both at home, one in Orlando, and finish them off at home. I definately don’t see us losing at home to them.

by Buckeye Brad on May 17, 2009 9:16 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree, I’d be shocked if we lost at home. But I think we’ll get beat twice in Orlando, making it a 2-2 series. I’d get 1 will be close and 1 will be fairly big Orlando win.

I think they can shoot on us, at least at home. And I bet they’ll have one game where they get all the bounces and beat us by about 11.

by CU Adam on May 17, 2009 9:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, it could happen. As I said, it would be hard for us to beat them when they’re shooting 3’s like this (11-18 so far).

Yea

that wouldn’t surprise me. He always questions on the way the Cavs play but the Spur have won titles playing that way and he never had one playing how he did so. We will count rings when Lebron’s career is over.

BINGO!

Chuck is so predictable

So I told her," I'll be nicer if you try to be smarter!'..That was a mistake.

Of course, he always goes against the trend just to be different.

Well, I don't think Charles has alot of critical thinking skills....

He’s a front runner with whoever looks good at the time…he just saw the Magic looking like world beaters against Boston. So. they can do the same to the Cavs ….in his mind.

So I told her," I'll be nicer if you try to be smarter!'..That was a mistake.

Wow. No more Celtics. Almost seems unreal, doesn’t it?

I looked at Third Quarter Collapse. The bloggers are having huge orgasms right now, which is hard to argue with since the Magic rallied from a 3-2 deficit to dethrone the Celtics. They can’t wait to play us.

See you for some ECF games.

Thanks. I’m looking forward to playing some games again! It gets lonely watching all these other teams.
