Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

They deserve respect, they are a good team. But we are the best team in basketball. I don't feel that they've had to adjust to us one time in the series."

So, Mo. You're sure the Cavaliers will win Game 4 on Tuesday night and rally to win the best-of-seven series. Willing to guarantee it?

"Guarantee we're going to win the series? Yeah, yeah," he said. "We are down 2-1. But there is nobody on this team and definitely not myself that says we are not going to win this series. Yeah, it is going to be tough. We know that. We get this game tomorrow, go home, still got home-court advantage.

I like confidence from our guys, but this comes off as really cocky. Especially from a guy shooting 32%. Guarantees are what weak teams do to stir controversy. I don’t like it.

Yeah, we don’t need more Magic players and fans whining about getting no respect. In reality this isn’t that big of a deal, because every player should think that their team is going to win the series, but saying something like this is just going to stir up a big media frenzy. We didn’t need this, especially from a guy playing so crappy.

Exactly. They’re already jumping all over it at 3QC.

I figured. They didn’t need more ammunition. The fans already think everyone in the league wants them to lose and the refs are plotting against them. Players just love playing the “no respect” card, and we don’t need to feed in to that.

Mo had better step up tonight and back up his words.

Darn right he better. Like, to the tune of 25+.

Agreed – the fans in Orlando were remarkably nasty against the Cavs on Sunday. Heck, I thought I heard a “Yankees suck” chant directed at LeBron. They will be saying anything and everything… I’m disappointed to hear Mo come out with this guarantee. We’ll just have to see if he and the other players have what it takes to actually be the best.

that’s what i heard too (which, i thought was kind of clever), but someone in the game thread said the fans were chanting “this ref sucks”. that’s not what i heard, but i don’t think either of us knew for sure.

You know Selig? Ombudsman.

Time to put our money where Mo’s mouth is. Here’s to a convincing win tonight.

Before any Magic fans gets all upset about this (probably too late for that), they need to remember that their coach Patrick Ewing guarenteed a win last series against Boston. What’s the difference?

by Buckeye Brad on May 26, 2009 10:43 AM CDT reply actions

the magic are right to attempt to use this as motivation, but really this is complete BS. he was, clearly, asked a leading question about a guarantee for the series…what’s he supposed to do? of course he’s going to fire back w/ “we’re going to win.” this stuff gets so overblown…if you asked the magic today what they think is going to happen, any one of them would guarantee a series victory, too.

Right. This is just stuff for the media and Magic fans to get all riled up about. Who cares? Honestly, does this have anything to do with playing the game? No.
