Pistons decide to fire Michael Curry
That certainly didn't last long. I guess it wasn't Dumars' fault that he traded away a great team player for an incredibly selfish one.

I just saw this on ESPN. J.A. Adande was talking and he thinks the Pistons want to hire a “proven winner” like Avery Johnson or Mark Jackson. I thought the Pistons were going to enter a rebuilding mold and retool their roster for the future, not look to contend right away. Do they really think they can challenge the Cavs, Celtics, and Magic in the East? Although they do have plenty of salary cap space, so maybe if they get a guy like Boozer and someone else they can contend with the Cavs again, but I don’t see it.

It was be a question of how much can they really retool. To challenge the top teams, they’re going to need a superstar. They aren’t going to be picking at the very top of the draft, they still have too much talent, so rule that out. They have to try to use their trade assets and cap space to get a Stoudemire or Bosh.

not sure how mark jackson qualifies as a “winner” from a coaching perspective. i would be pissed if i’m michael curry and jackson gets the job.
on the other hand, if this team is working things out and looking to grow back into a contender over the next couple of years, then jackson may be the guy to guide them…let him mature as the team matures.

Detroit was never going to enter a true rebuilding mode
There’s not going to be a period of time where Detroit drafts a Trajan Langdon, DaJuan Wagner, DeSagana Diop, etc…
Detroit will be back, maybe not this year but they will be back. They’re a team that can compete without going well over the luxury tax threshold, unlike other teams.

Boney, your ability to prognosticate really seems to carry with it some doubt.

It's gonna be a while time before detroit
It’s gonna be a while before detroit really can make a real run again with the East being the way it is now. You better hope the Celtics blow up due to age, Lebron leaves Cleveland, and Orlando screwed up this offseason. Then you have the Hawks, even after your pickups…still BETTER than you. The Bulls, even without Gordon, still BETTER. The heat, well, we’ll see. You might have jumped them, but thats still open to debate. You’re still looking at bottom feeder playoff team (if that) to get smacked in the first round, and thats not gonna change for awhile. I’m sure eventually you guys will be good again, but right now, the the next FEW seasons, you’re just going to have take you’re medicine like everybody else.
Deal with it.
