LeBron fined for "snubbing" the media
Stern takes back his word and decides to fine The King. As if we haven't already built the Rocky Mountains out of a molehill, let's re-open the floodgates!

it’s about time to show some consistency in the league

YEAH!
Go Stern! You show LeBron who’s boss! You take that 25,000 dollars and teach him a lesson.
Then you proportionately can show us fans with a fine of 25 cents.

It’s not about the amount of the fine, it’s about being consistent in how, who, why you fine people. it is a requirement to attend post game press conferences, whether you’re pouting, pissed, crying, etc.

I guess your a strong believer of the “A stupid rule is still a good rule” mentality.

reading comprehension… I’m not a strong believer in half the rules the NBA imposes, but they’re still rules and 99% of the league has to abide by them otherwise it’s anarchy and the players run the league.
In another post a guy says “LeBron can do what he wants, it’s a free country” so I prattle off and tell him that since it’s a free country why don’t you go outside and call black people the n word or hell, you can rob a liquor store because it’s a free country. I was told that the comparison is ridiculous while I wasn’t comparing what LeBron did and calling people the n word. I was simply saying to go and do those things because it’s a free country.
Here again… I didn’t say it was a good rule, but it’s a rule. You can rob a liquor store anytime you want, no one is stopping you. When you get caught by the police though, you pay the penalty that fits the crime. Is what LeBron did a crime? No. Is the rule stupid? Yes. Is it a rule? Yes.
Pay the fine and move on. Many others before him have skipped post game press conferences, many others have paid fines.
I suppose you think Amare Stoudemire shouldn’t have been suspended for leaving the bench against the Spurs in 2007 too right? If Stoudemire isn’t suspended, what precedence does that set? If Stoudemire is not suspended then whenever you suspend someone else for the same thing, they’ll appeal and the player’s association gets involved.
Rasheed Wallace has paid several fines for skipping post game pressers. If LeBron doesn’t have to pay for the 1 he skipped, it’s a problem. I don’t care if Wallace has not made any money for league and LeBron makes the league millions, it’s still a problem.

I, personally, am not protesting the “fairness” of whether to fine or not.
I was simply pointing out the redundancy of the fines.

I also don’t exactly believe that just because a rule exists makes it worth enforcing. (i.e. Jim Crow, 1960s)

i actually don’t think amare should have been suspended in 2007. the nba may have rules, but there has to be room for interpretation of those rules. amare and diaw took, literally, 2 steps each toward their 2-time MVP who had just been cross-body blocked into the scorer’s table. they were nowhere near the players or a potential altercation…the rule, in fact, worked, as they slowed up before getting to the incident and avoided a possible kermit washington 2.
my understanding of the media rule is that it is not a cut-and-dried fine situation. i believe that there is a large degree of discretion allowed as to whether to fine players or not in such instances…the high profile ones, like rasheed, obviously get all of the press. if i’m mistaken on that, please correct me. if the rule is clear and defined, then of course LeBron should have been fined…though that doesn’t make what he did wrong, in and of itself.

Well good
neither do I.
It doesn’t matter who was laying on the floor, Stoudemire did not leave the bench area to incite a brawl, in my eyes. In the eyes of the NBA, you leave the bench, you’re gone for a game.

then i don’t understand what you’re saying.

about what? Stoudemire thing or LeBron fine?
The Stoudemire thing was a stupid ruling but, if you don’t uphold the suspension you open yourself up for future problems. It doesn’t matter who is laying on the floor after getting hip checked into the scorer’s table though. Could be a superstar could be a bit player, still can’t leave the bench.
that’s what I meant

LMFAO@THIS
Really? One of those people who did not know the NBA existed before The King?
I mean what else am I supposed to take from this comment, He is implying James has some recourse to screwing over the NBA if he is upset over a 25k fine?
Some people swear they down as can be

In a way I like what LeBron did. It shows all of us that he was pissed for not getting to the Finals. He is not complacent in getting to the ECF. He wants the big dance. I have no problem with this.

Yeah, I kinda liked it too.
I’m looking forward to the next season.
