I've been advised by one especially knowledgeable observer not to be surprised if Delonte West is traded at some point this season, not because Cleveland is eager to part with him but because West is surely more movable from that massive Cavs payroll than Daniel Gibson.

I don’t really get this, is he saying that the Cavs are looking to cut payroll?……After they trade for Shaq?

And look at how he words this:

I’ve been advised by one especially knowledgeable observer not to be surprised if

“an especially knowledgeable observer”?

and “don’t be surprised if”….. what a rumor.

West is a trading chip for sure, but the return is going to have to warrant moving him, and I don’t see how this doesn’t then create a new hole (if he is moved for a PF) or simply an even draw (if he’s moved for a G).

Since when

is " that massive Cavs payroll" a concern that requires anybody to move? Does Stein or his informant think the Cavs are going to lose big and need to make trades or what?

So I told her," I'll be nicer if you try to be smarter!'..That was a mistake.

I’ve heard from Brian Windhorst and other sources that West is virtually untradable to the Cavs. They did not want to give him up in any trade for Shaq last year. I’m sure they would consider it if they were overwhelmed with an offer. but outside of that I don’t see it happening. West is too valuable to the Cavs. After making moves to fortify their roster to win a chempionship, I don’t see why they would trade a big part of their team during the season just to save a few bucks.

I wouldn’t want to move Delonte unless we got something ridiculous in return either.

Ah yes, the old “don’t be surprised if” routine.

You get to claim credit for making the call if it happens, but totally deny any commitment to the rumor if it’s never fulfilled.

from the department of “maybe, but then again maybe not”, we bring you this potentially breaking-ish story

Don’t be surprised that there is a possibility of a rumor existing about a mega trade
