Logo for Fear the Sword

I see that most people, including me, do not like the new logo for Fear the Sword. I created wallpapers for this community during this year's playoffs. I have also created the logos for PredsOnTheGlass.com, Section303.com, Julie Loves Hockey on HockeyBuzz.com, and MusicCityMiracles.com.

Here is what the site used to look like:

Here is what I created:

What do you think? Do you like the new design I created or not?

Edit: The logo just changed?

I'm a silent reader on this blog

but I have to say I’m not a fan of the new logo. Older one was much better IMO.

I like the new logo.

New Logo

that old one is creepy. The guy has no eye balls. The new logo is much cleaner.

Is it the best logo ever? Maybe not. But it is certainly the best option at the moment.

Bring back the old one please

So I told her," I'll be nicer if you try to be smarter!'..That was a mistake.

If I had to rank them, I would say…

1. The very first one the site started with
2. The one created by smashville
3. The one currently on the site

The very first logo is the most refined, and although creepy to some, it’s unique. The one currently on the site is way too boring. I like smashville’s FearTheSword text, but the rest of it is only “okay” for me; though I think more concepts from you could surpass all three logos.

Glad someone brought up the logo again though…still waiting to see what John thinks of it :p

I'd change the colors

associating the Cavs with the Browns in anyway, even by accident, is dooming them to failure.

This logo might work if there was more blue and yellow in it.

I kind of dig that blue one.

Move the text down and place it behind the swords and that’s the best one yet.

by rufio on Jul 31, 2009 12:03 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think the ball and crossed swords might fit better if you used the “wine” colored ball and the gold and blue swords from the official Cavs logo.

Something like this, only done better.

Even with that much change to them? The ball I made my self, and the swords were modified to a large degree. Basically, the only thing they could claim as theirs is the handle, which is a fairly small portion of the graphic. As an added note, as far as I know, no one would be making any money as a result of the sword handle, nor do I believe any lawyer would ever send a cease-and-desist letter to a friendly Cavs fan blog.

If I've learned anything about organized sports leagues

they’ll send a letter to anyone. They’ve got lawyers on retainer with nothing better to do.

True

but the Cavs wouldn’t likely do it. Now the Indians would be all over it so thats how it is in Cleveland. The best idea is to make one that we all agree is good that doesn’t look anything like something the Cavs have done.

I’m DONE!!! I don’t think words can express my anger, I’m officially done with this team. They traded one of the few guys I still liked and one of the few guys that even cared about team anymore. I thank God that I just moved to N.C. so I don’t have to watch the Indians b/c I would rather watch a 24 hour marathon of Jon & Kate Plus 8 than watch this pathetic excuse for a team.

We really have turned into the team from Major League except our owner isn’t a hot cougar, it’s an old, wrinkly man who has similar characteristics to Ebeneezer Scrooge.

I think you could claim that there were significant differences between that and any Cavs copyrighted logo.

Fear the Sword

needs some work, honestly. Love the Basketball and swords and the white for the lettering is fine but the script is awful.

Are we changing the site name to The FearSword? Because that’s kind of awesome.

by Chemo on Aug 3, 2009 3:09 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Funny thing is...

The original logo when this site was a Wordpress blog is very similar to Smashville’s. I took the Cavaliers script and Photoshop’d it to something similar to what he has above….

I think the new text and the one-color background now on the site is at least a much bigger improvement than before.
