The PD reports we resigned Andy, too.

Apparently the deal is 6 years, “as much as 50 million” with the last year only partially guaranteed, and his cap number is “a little more than 7 million” in 2010-2011.

Ive been here before

and you guys have been great to me as a visitor.

But i must say…..

50 million for A.Verejo??? WTF.

He is the only member of the Cavs i hate. I know im not making friends with tis post but i have to say it.

A.Verejo is not worth 50 mil over a 100 years!! Unbelievable.

I hope Danny Ferry has his bags packed because he’s going to get fired.

He’ll never be a GM in this league making deals like that.
I love the anthony parker deal but its almost erased by giving that much money to a back-up caliber PF on ANY team in this league.

Outside of that good off-season so far for cle

You probably aren’t helping yourself with exaggerations, but I agree with the general idea

by Roger Dorn on Jul 9, 2009 8:05 AM CDT up reply actions

Ferry is NOT going to get fired.

by Buckeye Brad on Jul 9, 2009 8:56 AM CDT up reply actions

If Lebron leaves as a FA because he doesn’t feel the team is in shape to contend in the future, I could see Ferry getting fired.

by Roger Dorn on Jul 9, 2009 4:42 PM CDT up reply actions

two things: 1. today, ferry’s job is safe. as safe as any GM in the nba, so that part was definitely false. 2. i can see a scenario where LeBron leaving results in ferry’s firing, as well, but i don’t think it’s a lock. at that point, who would be better to attempt to address the needs of the roster than ferry? he will have built the entire squad—although, maybe it’s a total rebuild if LeBron leaves.

in any event, LeBron and ferry aren’t married. LeBron leaving is not an official death knell for ferry. not in my opinion, anyway.

by DontCallMeJoey on Jul 9, 2009 5:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Yea it is questionable but definitely possible

by Roger Dorn on Jul 9, 2009 5:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Totally wrong on everything

If Lebron leaves Ferry will be sitting at home for the rest of his life.

I see this guy really hasn’t learned anything since being banned from LGT.

Actually I have learned the Indians are worse then they first appeared.

Whose minutes does he take? Wally’s? Sasha’s?

by JulioBernazard on Jul 9, 2009 9:42 AM CDT reply actions

Isn’t Sasha gone already?

by Ilamuku on Jul 9, 2009 3:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Is Parker better then

inconsistent Sasha or slow as dirt Wally World. Answer is Yes. Will he help the team get over the hump to win a championship? Answer is NO! Come on Ferry is this all you have. Seriously you can’t win championships with mush players. Lebron is most definatly at fault here also. His head games are costing the Cavs players and his chances at a championship in Cleveland. If we don’t win it all this year and Lebron leaves then screw him and his mega attitude problem. Stop playing head games with Cleveland, Lebron and grow up.

are you joking, dude? this is ridiculous.

Geez, you sound like one of those Lakers trolls. Are you going to switch teams and start rooting for them just like you switched baseball teams? You are a real piece of work. You’d think getting banned from LGT would have taught you a lesson.

Championship teams

don’t buy bubble gum and sicks to fix there holes. Clearly no Cleveland team has won a title have they?

Ah, so that’s why you jumped to the Red Sox bandwagon, because they have a big payroll and can buy players on the free agent market that most teams cannot afford. So, in other words, you like rooting for the big bully to beat up the little kid on the playground.

Now I’ve lost even more respect for you. Why didn’t you become a Yankees fan if you like teams that can spend huge money on free agents? And their fans are evey bigger a-holes than Red Sox fans.

by Buckeye Brad on Jul 9, 2009 8:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Red Sox

don’t just buy players. In fact most of their players are home grown and they pay them well. They draft well unlike the Indians and supplement their team with veterans who are keys members to their team.

C Trade

2b Home Grown

3RB Trade

1 average Free agent (lucky) Green

3 Trades
3 Home Grown

First off, the 1B, be it Kotsay or Youkilis, is not home grown, and second, even 3 out of 9 would not qualify as “most”.

Youkilis

is the definition of home grown.
Drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 8th round of the 2001 amateur draft.

If a third of your roster is coming from your minor leagues you are doing something special. Especially given that those homegrown players are All Stars.

You’re right on Youkilis, I apologize. A brain fart and not having read Moneyball in a couple years had me thinking Oakland had drafted him.

I don’t care how they built their team, you switched allegiances because you only like teams that win. That’s sad

Rec.

All true fans HATE bandwagon-jumping, front-running fans. That’s what he is.

by Buckeye Brad on Jul 10, 2009 8:53 AM CDT up reply actions

2009 payrolls:
Boston – $122,696,000, 4th in MLB
Cleveland – $81,625,567, 15th

So the Red Sox spend about 50% more than the Indians on the payroll. That’s why they can KEEP their homegrown players that the Indians can’t. Don’t you get that? The Indians would have loved to keep CC Sabathia but they couldn’t afford to keep him.

But I hope youi’re happy that you swtiched allegiences to a team with a bigger payroll so they could afford to sign their big free agents and other team’s big free agents. That is about the worst kind of move a fan could make

by Buckeye Brad on Jul 10, 2009 8:51 AM CDT up reply actions

have we heard anything about the terms of the parker deal?

by DontCallMeJoey on Jul 9, 2009 7:30 PM CDT reply actions

rumored to be two years at $6 million total. (so $3 a year), I also heard a third year.
