LeBron-TV?? Could be if he chooses New York

Between now and July of 2010 we are going to hear stories that LeBron James is headed everywhere - Europe, China, L.A., and of course, New York.  Along with that will be crazy rumors regarding how teams will try to get James as much publicity, and in turn, money, as possible to attract LeBron to their city.

Perhaps the biggest so far is one reported yesterday by the NY Daily News and Frank Isola -

...the latest LeBron to the Knicks rumor I've heard is that Cablevision - which owns the Knicks but not the Daily News - will circumvent the salary cap by giving LeBron his own channel. I don't know exactly how that will work but that's what I've heard.

That's right, LeBron-TV.  Of course, as far as I understand it, the CBA Rules regarding the salary cap do not allow teams to try to circumvent the system in this way, at least not directly.  True or not, what it does show is teams are likely to get extremely creative in order to attract LeBron.

No matter what gimmicks and games New York or others try to come up with, if James holds true to his word it will be the opportunity to win multiple championships that will be the main factor and right now that opportunity lies best with Cleveland and the Cavaliers.

silly question … if LeBron likes the idea of “LeBronTV” so much, why couldn’t he start his own channel while with the cavs? seems like a bogus report (like all the rest)

Lebron - New York - Not going to happen.

I know the New York media cont. to spread rumors ( or more like dreams ) of Lebron going to New York. How Badly they want a superstar basketball player, since they buy-out every other sport. But there are two hard facts. 1. Lebron will not sign with a team that is not ready to win that year. That’s fact, and the knicks suck. 2. New York has so many lawyers, there looking for loop-holes in a salary cap that is going to drop. New York does not come close to having enough cap room to sign him – Fact. Just because you like a city, does not mean you move there. I love Montreal, But I’m not about to move there. Lebrons family is here, fan base, he actually has loyalty, and the cavs cont. to sign solid players – making them contenders every season. Few teams can say that. Lebron signing with another team – 5% chance. All the elements he is looking for are already in Cleveland. And Lebron has never said he wants to leave, in fact he said he wants to stay. He wants to make sure the team continues in this direction though. And with the adding Parker, moon, O’neil, and Powe to a 66 win team. Its a sunny day in cleveland.

Lebron will only leave

if he has a better chance to win multiple championships some where else. At this point no place currently exists. Things could change in a big way but it is unlikely at this point.

I can see why Knicks fans are so optimistic

If anybody who could turn around the talented few on the knicks (duhon, lee, harrington and robinson) it would only be LBJ. I am sure anybodys game would get better with Jordan….oops I mean James on the team :-)
