Lebron at the PF? starting Moon and Parker?

What do you guys think about this starting lineup?

C-Shaq

PF- LBJ

SF- Moon

SG- Parker

PG -Williams

I know it's generally not a great idea to mess too much with a good thing. But I really think Lebron could thrive as an ultra fast/athletic 4, and he certainly has the strength to defend the position (as he did for USA). Moon and Parker provide length and perimeter D, and Parker has actually shot the 3 tremendously well in recent years (plus 40 percent). Varejao, Z, West off the bench...?

I

Believe that Brown has said Lebron will play the 4 some times but it would be a major mistake to start him or play him there for major minutes. Lebron’s skills are best at the 3 not the 4. The Cavs should have played Lebron at the 4 against the Magic last year but Brown was too stupid to make the adjustment needed to win that series. Now that we added Parker and Moon, Brown has not excuse not to play Lebron at the 4 when match ups dictate that he should.

Might be feasible

Lebron can probably guard most 4s, and since he plays like a 3 most 4s will have trouble guarding him, in return.

undoubtably lebron’s offensive skills are best on the perimeter. i just don’t see starting varejao along side shaq as a very good situation for the offense. with that lineup both of the opposing team’s big men will be able to clog the paint, while before at least z could stretch the floor. at this point i don’t see any of the other big men on the roster anywhere close to being NBA starters (z and shaq together would unbelievably slow).

with four perimeter players on offense with shaq in the middle, i think things could run very smoothly and free things up more for lebron’s ridiculous ability to get to the rim.
if he can defend 4s, then he would be a nightmare matchup from hell (even more so than he is now) for other teams. i suspect that lebron would probably not be thrilled about taking on low post defensive duties on a permanent basis though.

still with lebron at the 4 and moon and parker starting the team could potentially be both faster running the floor and at least as big as last year.

So you want to take 2 legitimate NBA starters (West and Varejao) and relegate them to the bench. Also, Lebron should not be defending post players all night. No point in him taking that beating when we have much more capable post defenders, not to mention Lebron is our best off the ball perimeter defender. You want him roaming around the court. The Cavs will go small with Lebron at the 4 for some stretches, but only for short periods. They have an excellent defender at the 4 already, and Lebron is highly effective on the perimeter

I think in the case of West its not really a big deal if he comes off the bench, I think its going to round out where Williams, Parker, and West all get around 30 minutes a game with the hot hand playing a bit more. Daniel Gibson gets a few minutes here and there.

Agree with 7foot3

If lebron starts the game down low, im telling my post players to punish him. I mean elbows and everything or anything that will slow him down on offensive. Most teams will change their matchups regardless so just becasue he is guarding a slow power foward doesnt mean that foward will be guarding him.

I don’t think you have to worry about that being the starting line-up, because if those players show their merits etc throughout the season, that could be the line-up (minus Shaq on offensive possessions for FT shooting of course) on the floor at the end of games. Which, in reality, is probably more important than at the start of the game.

Yeah starting lineup isn’t really that big of a deal, how the minutes are alotted at each position is probably more important. Who plays the best together will shake out as the season progresses and as you say can give us an idea of who will be on the floor together closing games.

Offence will not change.

Lebron will play SF. Parker may have started in toronto, but this is not toronto. There is just to much talent 1-11. Not including gibson, I don’t consider him talent. Parker off the bench as a SG. I Love moon, always have. To get him more minutes, look for him to play some SF/PF. skinny guy, but tall with really long arms. He would fit that mold better than james. And we already ask to much of james. Let him play his game the way the MVP is use to. Besides I’m sure the cavs will blow enough teams out that James will sit the 4th again. Remember, We have two talented young big men that were injured part or all of last season. And I’m not talking about hickson. But when all is said and done, Brown goes with chemistry. So what-ever pairing of players produces the most, is who will play. There are some some moves to be made yet. The cavs know they are over-loaded with players. Z, Gibson, Hickson – all could be on the trade block – probably for draft picks. The cavs may also at times go to the old Orlando offence of C, SF, SG, SG, PG. Or 2 SF instead of 2 SG’s. That would really disrupt the other teams D. But with all this change, maybe we sould stick with what we know. Some players will be unhappy with there playing time this year, But all of these players are here to win a ring. So…..I think they can live with it.

How good would the Cavs be...

…if they had a coach worth a crap?

I mean seriously, isn’t it kind of scary?

so, the reigning coach of the year isn’t “worth a crap”? that makes exactly no sense.

You think that Mike Brown is the best coach in the NBA? Certainly not, he should go ahead and just give that award to LeBron.

Not “worth a crap” is an overstatement, but Mike Brown is not even in the top 2/3 of the league’s best coaches. He’s just been lucky enough to have a basketball god like LeBron to give the ball to and let create pretty much on his own

Mike Brown and Cavs minus Lebron = Draft Lottery (clipper style)

please enlighten me…what successful coaches have not had a superstar of some sort on their team?

by DontCallMeJoey on Oct 2, 2009 8:34 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree

Mike Brown is best served as a defensive assistant. He still hasn’t figured out how to be a good Head coach. He has major problems adjusting his strategies against the opponent and is less then creative with his offense. He could become a good head coach some day but as of now he is less then average. His poor decisions have lead to playoff loses to the Celtics, Magic and Pistons during his tenure.
