Quick Recap: Cavs Blow 14-Point Halftime Lead, Fall To Kings 107-104
Oh this could end up being a long season.
Everything looked like sunshine and roses tonight at the Q at haltime, when the Cavaliers enjoyed a 67-53 lead built on 59% shooting. A 2-1 record after three games looked like a pretty safe bet.
Then, for the second night in a row, the Cavs were undone by a poor third quarter.
Sacramento, after storming back and taking the lead after three on the strength of a 31-15 quarter, fended off the Cavaliers in the final minute with expedient fouling, and made just enough of their own free throws to hold off Cleveland 107-104 as Daniel Gibson's mid-court heave missed at the end -- a crushing loss for a team trying to find an identity.
A full recap will no doubt come later tonight or early tomorrow. For now, suffice it to say that -- if the Cavaliers do not figure out a way to come out of the locker room after intermission and hold their own in the third quarters of these games -- this could get ugly fast. A 34-point first quarter, a 33-point second quarter -- and then a 37-point second half?
Yes, this one hurt.

It seems like we’ve always been a lethargic team in the third quarter. The scorpion definetely stung us today.
At least we didn’t lose to an eastern team today, we need all the points we can get to compete.
Despite this being more painful to bear than last night’s loss, I did like that we were finally crashing the hoop and drawing fouls. Toronto must have had a maximum of two fouls on us last night. Plus, we weren’t chucking the ball from the perimeter as much.
Tough weekend overall. Let’s regroup against Atlanta. I hope Mo will be back for that game, we need all hands on deck.
The saga continues.
I'm confused....
As to why people want to see this team ‘compete’ for the Playoffs? This team NEEDS high draft picks, and needs to start rebuilding as soon as possible. We’re never gonna be Championship contenders being 8 seeds in the East and getting the 15th pick every year in the draft.
We need to accept that fact, trade off Mo/Antawn/etc. for future picks, and really go all-in on the rebuilding process. We have a couple nice young pieces (Mainly just Hickson, but I think Sessions could be a very solid future PG for us), and we need to keep adding more.
I want to see how Mo plays for awhile before trading him, Antwan on the other hand.....
Jamison has played terribly since he got traded to us last year, and depite all the squaking about Mo in the playoffs, Jamison was supposed to be the 2nd option, and he played much worse than Mo did.
Jamison is 34 (I think), is not playing well, and costs a lot of money. We should trade him to some team who might need him as a presence in the locker room, or quick points off the bench. Maybe Atlanta or the Bucks.
Mo is still (relatively) young, and can improve. There are many players who start to get a lot better, especially on d, even in their mid to late 30s. Besides, he hasnt played that much, and he and Sessions are supposed to have pretty good synergy.
Bottom line: Antwan has to go, preferably for a couple of picks, but maybe just to get rid of his salary so we can get a big FA or something.
Yeah, I have been really disappointed in Jamison.
What makes it worse is that he makes 17 million per year.
Win a ring without the king! Cavs=2011 champs?
Again, I ask
what was the last team to go ‘all in’ on a rebuilding mode and won an NBA Title using a bunch of high draft picks?
I’m confused as to why Mo isn’t playing. His conditioning may not be at 100% but he’s gotta be able to give the team 10-15 minutes of game action in hopes of reducing the minutes Jamario freaking Moon sees the floor. Yes, I know Moon is a SF but still, the love affair with the guys pure athleticism blinds from the fact that he’s a double-edged sword.
Cavs should have won this game, plain and simple. At the end of the season when they are trying to claw for wins in a hope of sneaking into the playoffs, games like this will hurt even more.
