After last years dunk-contest, didn't your star player LeBron James say that he was going to enter his name into this years dunk contest?
What happened to that? This year there are a bunch of no-namers, mostly guards, and the only one that I am remotely interested in seeing is Nate Robinson.
Can anybody tell me what happened to King James proclamation?? He did a fake dunking commercial for McDonalds, so why can he not entertain the fans with real dunks?
This is why the NBA is a dying organization, because stars refuse to partake in fun events like these. There are barely any stars in any of the competitions except the All-Star game, and even then, we know what to expect.
LeBron is the one guy that can singlehandidly put people in the stands, and on All-Star weekend, when the main event is the Slam-Dunk Contest, we are seeing stars ducking out of contests that the fans want to see.
I want to see the best sharpshooters in the game compete in the 3-Point Shootout.
I want to see the best and most athletic dunkers compete in the Dunk Contest.
I want to see NBA All-Star Weekend become the best weekend in sports ever.
Instead, its flopping, and while some of you may be content with what we have, I am not. I want to see stars like LeBron take charge, and show fans their moneys worth, instead of having guys like Shannon Brown and Eric Gordon perform failed dunk after failed dunk.
Instead of Brown, Gordon, Nate Robinson and Gerald Wallace, I wanna see LeBron, Robinson, Dwight Howard, and my boy Andre Iguodala compete for the honor of being called the best dunker in the league.
Why don't we just give the award to Robinson right now while we're at it? It might save us some time, and disappointment come Saturday night.
