Poll of the Week - Should the Cavaliers make a trade??

Each week we feature another exciting Poll here at FTS to find out what the pulse of Cavs Nation is.  This week, the topic is obvious.  The deals are on the table and it seems we know who the major players are.  Should they get Amare Stoudemire?  Should they go after Antawn Jamison?  Someone else on your mind?  Put your 'Danny Ferry Hat' on for a second and tell me, if you were running the Cavaliers what would you do -

Amare is a great player...

…but I think Jamison fits in better, certainly this year on the fly.

Yes to Jamison

I’d take either one but, i think Jamison would be a perfect fit for Cavs this year. I don’t think he would mind being 3rd or 4th option and he can knock down 3’s. If we are going to trade Hickson might as well get someone that can shoot outside and someone that is locked up for a few years instead of the possibility of loosing someone you trade for after 3 months.

Jamison has a worse career defensive rating than Stoudemire, takes more shots than Stoudemire, rebounds less, and is 6 years older. Why would you want Jamison for multiple years?

by rockemsockem on Feb 15, 2010 3:18 PM CST up reply actions

Did you ever see Jamison play? You are making it seem like he’s terrible. He takes a lot of shots because, he has to. Wizards have nobody on their team except Butler when he was there. Amare takes less shots because, the Suns have more players surrounding him.

If Jamison came here he wouldn’t be shooting as much as he does now. I also think he would be fine in a team defense like the Cavs. People said the same things about Mo Williams that you are saying about Jamison before the Cavs got him and Mo seems to fit in just fine to me.

So Stoudemire should fit in fine. Jamison took even more shots when the Wiz had Arenas.

by rockemsockem on Feb 15, 2010 4:17 PM CST up reply actions

I’m sure Stoudemire would fit in fine i never said he wouldn’t. I was just saying i think Jamison would fit in better. I’m just not basing my opinions of Jamison on playing on a go nowhere team like the Wizards with no real leadership. Playing with LeBron is different than playing with Arenas. I just don’t think Jamison is anywhere as bad as you are making him seem. I remember watching him against the Cavs over the years and in the playoffs for 3 straight years and he always seemed pretty good to me.

He is good, but old and not as good as Stoudemire. Therefore, not as good of a fit.

I agree long term Amare is better I was thinking more short term. I’d be 110% on board with Amare if we were sure he would resign. Like i said in my post earlier I’ll take either and be happy either way. I’ll also be more confident come playoff time than i will with JJ unless JJ learns to hit a 15 footer consiistantly between now and playoff time.

I just know i do not want Murphy unless we can get him without giving up JJ.

Amare can give the Cavs a diverse game

Having Amare will allow for BronBron to sit, and instead of a pure bench squad (if you can call the cavs bench a bench squad :P) coming in you could leave in Amare. This will give the Cavs a proven scorer and add so much diversity to scoring possibilities. Also Big Z would be back in like 30 days there is no way the Suns would keep him he doesn’t fit their offense++++ style of play. Hickson will be sad to loose but right now we don’t need developing talent we need guys that are proven and trades that will make the king stay to play another few year in Cleveland. I think acquiring a long and very tough 4 such as Amare would all but set us in the best spot for bringing a ship to cleveland which we need be it any sport… Hope Thursday brings us Amare!

Ok, just how many Amre threads do we actually need to judge this potential trade? I am counting at least 5 right now.

Let’s try to consolidate the discussion in one place folks ….

It's fluid and keeps changing...

Plus, this isn’t a ‘message board’ with a need for a ‘master thread’ for each topic. Chime in where you feel the need and ignore the rest…

I agree with talonk; it’s much easier to follow if all the discussion is in the same place. If people want to post updates, can’t we do it in one thread rather than creating a new post about the same topic? It makes the site very busy and confusing to follow.

I hope we get amar’e. hes 27, he can do all the things we want (stretch 4 means long 2s more than threes, especially when we have like 5 consistent downtown threats already) and amar’e can do even more, he can be a force around the rim, and take over the paint when shaq is on the bench. Amar’e is a total all star talent who can take over the game all by himself. At this point in his career Jamison has only one or two good years left and is just another role player in the team of role players. The Amar’e trade needs to happen. Also, if he actually gets here, the cavs will offer him $15 mil a year and he will nearly fall all over himself to sign.

I’m starting to think taking JRich isn’t that bad of an idea, the cavs could use his ($13.3mil) contract to swing a sign&trade this summer and bring in a big free agent to further improve our lineup.
