Game #55 - Denver Nuggets at Cleveland Cavaliers Game Night Open Thread

Denver Nuggets at Cleveland Cavaliers, Feb 18, 2010 7:00 PM CST

2009/2010 NBA Regular Season
VS
35-1843-11
February 18, 2010
Quicken Loans Arena
8:00 PM et
Radio - WTAM 1100 / TNT
Probable starters:
Chauncey Billups PG Daniel Gibson
Arron Afflalo SG Anthony Parker
Carmelo Anthony SF LeBron James
Kenyon Martin PF J.J. Hickson
Nene C Shaquille O'Neal

Ok, so all this trade talk has been fun, and I am excited that the Cavaliers have finally acquired Antawn Jamison(it seems they have been after him for years), but it sure is nice to talk about basketball again.  The road to the playoffs, and what the Cavs expect will be a deep playoff run, starts tonight with a visit from the Denver Nuggets.  It starts a 3 games in 4 days stretch that sees the Cavaliers head to Charlotte tomorrow and Orlando on Sunday afternoon.  A good time for Jamison to get here.

As for the Nuggets, the Cavaliers will look to go 9-1 against teams that beat them this season.  That means only one team - Charlotte - has beaten the Cavs in two consecutive meetings.  The Nuggets beat the Cavaliers in January without Carmelo.

For some more good news, the Cavaliers have unexpectedly activated Mo Williams for tonight's game.  While Daniel Gibson will still get the start, Williams is available to come off the bench.  It will be a welcome site to see the Cavs getting back to full strength.

Oh, and the Cavaliers are going after their 14th straight win too.  A lot going on in Cleveland and a lot to feel good about.

3-in the Key

1.  The Cavaliers are tied for their best 54-game start in team history(43-11) with last season's squad. With a win, the Cavaliers can set a new franchise record for consecutive wins with 14.

2.  The Cavaliers are 28-4 over their last 32 games, best in the NBA.

3.  Against Orlando, LeBron James recorded his 21st Double-Double of the season and marked the 7th time that James had recorded at least 30 points and 10 assists.

I wouldn't...

I like J.J.’s energy at the start, and I LOVE Jamison coming off the bench, then starting the 2nd Q with Mo to provide scoring punch with LeBron on the bench…

Free throws. That sucks! LeBron launched to many 3’s at the end.

by CAVS R BOSS on Feb 18, 2010 9:57 PM CST reply actions

exactly

with the best in the game at getting to the hole and the biggest, strongest center in the game and they jack up threes with the game on the line….inexcusable

by cavslandrocks on Feb 18, 2010 10:01 PM CST up reply actions

It’s ok it happens they took to long to pick it up. If they would have played in the 1st half like they did in the 2nd half they would have won.

by CAVS R BOSS on Feb 18, 2010 10:03 PM CST up reply actions

It happens , yes

but it’s not ok…it’s a weakness that will kill them in the playoffs…everyone sees it…put some bodies in the lane and the Cavs will jack up threes…..great when when they drop…but not on nights like tonight..the three missed threes by LeBron (2) and AP at about the 2 min mark of OT were the difference…especially when you look at them being sandwiched by successful drives by LeBron

by cavslandrocks on Feb 18, 2010 10:08 PM CST up reply actions

Relax man it’s one game. They were trying to work Mo back in after a long time of being out and they were off their game the week off showed because they weren’t in their normal groove of late. I wouldn’t put to much stock in it. They’ll be fine.

by CAVS R BOSS on Feb 18, 2010 10:15 PM CST up reply actions

that’s AT LEAST six free throw attempts…up to nine points that they just gave up on…and they lost by two…someone needs to be kickin some @$$..make ya wonder if they really know how to use Shaq

Why didn’t Mike Brown have them practicing Tuesday instead of giving them another day off? That was a mistake.

Why doesn’t MB see this glaring flaw and fix it is the question?…any HS or college coach would be all over it

Not a Mike Brown fan at all so you’re preaching to the choir man.

I don’t mind the flash and dash when they have a comfortable lead but they could have 3-5 more wins if they got the ball inside more in the close ganes

I know what you are saying but, i’m not overly worried at this point in time. We will see what happens when the playoffs start but, i’m still pretty confident in our chances to win it all.

I agree they are right there but make it easy not harder..put teams away when you have the chance

by cavslandrocks on Feb 18, 2010 10:25 PM CST up reply actions

Plus, the only teams i’m worried about are the Magic and the Lakers and 4 games against them we have played pretty much like we should.

Just gotta keep working like LeBron says after every game and we’ll get there. They are going to be primed when the playoffs start and that’s what i’m worried about.

THAT'S OK

We’ll win tomorrow. Can’t win em all. It sucks how we lost but, better to have those games now than in the playoffs.

Nuggets fan here

Good game guys. The Melo-LeBron games duels are always classic. We’ll see you guys in the Finals

P.S. Bena Broncos and a Cavs fan?! You’re killing me lol

GREAT game.

You guys just take care of YOUR end of that deal (Lakers) and let’s do it.
