Shaq to see hand specialist; no timetable for return

Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal underwent evaluation, including a MRI, at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health late Saturday afternoon upon the team's return from Toronto, the results of which confirmed a significant sprain to his right thumb.

If the ligament is completely torn, O'Neal may need surgery to correct the problem. If that happens, the normal recovery time is 6-8 weeks. Back in 1995, O'Neal suffered a torn ligament in the thumb that caused him to miss 22 games while a member of the Orlando Magic.

He will travel with Cavaliers Head Team Physician Dr. Richard Parker today for additional evaluation by Dr. Thomas Graham at the National Hand Center in Baltimore, Maryland. His status will be updated following that exam as appropriate. His game status remains Out and no time table for his return to play has been established yet.

Oh Man!!!! Face-palm!!!!

I really wish Shaq well, an I hope he gets better soon. The Cavs need you Diesel! Your fans are looking forward to you dominating in the playoffs….AND GETTING YOUR FIFTH RING! I hope you make it in time for the playoffs, and kick Dwight’s butt! And while you are at it…kick Kobe’s butt also when the Cavs win it all this year!

If he needs surgery and he's out for 6 to 8 weeks

We wouldn’t be able to use him until the conference semi-finals.

big baby.

it would be in glen davis’s best interest to get a stomach ache when we see boston again. i say we send d-block in to nock that jerk into last year. it’d be worth the ejection.

re: big baby

it was bad enough that big baby injured shaq’s thumb on the attempt to block his shot, but in a subsequent possession, he could tell shaq was favoring the thumb and so he proceeded to pull on it even more. really classy sportsmanship there, big baby. next time the cavs face boston, you can bet the cavs will make you cry when they kick your a$$, both literally and figuratively.
