WHO'S NEXT?

 FEAR THE SWORD

Star-divide

After watching the best team in the NBA destroy Memphis, I was not surprised that once again that the anylists did not give the cavs hardly any credit at all. It was a hangover for Memphis they said, well it's a good thing we have no hangovers as championship teams never do. Who's next? Miami, then lets get to Orlando, they seem to be playing better and it would be interesting to see what the "EXPERTS" would have to say when we whipped them to. I  imagine it wouldn't be anything special, mean while the cavs keep rolling. If or should I say when they win the NBA title what excuse will they use then, maybe something like,"Oh the Lakers had a season hangover"  We win we keep James, I truly beleive that, but if we lose James I beleive it will be more devistating then losing the Browns back in the 90's.  The Cavs are doing it without an allstar point gaurd Mo Williams and are missing another key player in Delonte West.  I ask you who in the NBA has a deeper bench? Hey Kenny Smith, we are the best in the East and we beat the best in the west start paying attention to what Charles has to say.

Nort enough credit

Even I find it hard to believe how good the Cavs played last night. LBs passing, Shaqs domination of the paint, Gibsons shooting touch. But have to admit that Memphis looked a bit tired after the first quarter. In fact I was pretty disinterested half way through the third quarter. The difference in quality of teams was absolutely frightening.

No one has a deeper bench. No one has the size. No one has LeBron.

I’m not sure if the team gets better when Mo and Delonte come back ( its hard to get better than undefeated). But it sure will be deeper. And I ask you. What to do when Leon Powe gets healthy?

The announcers should give us the credit you are asking for. We are just better than everybody right now.

No Team Deeper

memphis did look tired but look at the first 2 months of the season, what a schedule we had! We were tired but we still won, and thats my point, a chamionship team still finds ways to win. And come on name a so called expert besides Barkley who gives the team the credit they surely are do. Does anyone else turn the channel when Kenny Smith talks? I do. Then you have a team like Cleveland, who has the best record in the NBA, with only one all-star. I know Mo is hurt, but Anderson is a reserve and should be there, and Shaq is looking better every game. Tell me how many all stars compared to everybody, EAST & WEST, are better right now in helping their team then those 3. No team deeper.

You could argue that Portland has the deepest bench.

They have been decimated with injuries and are stil treading water in the tough western conference.

That is true but I think he meant a deeper bench with top notch starters.

No question that Portland will be stronger when everyone is healthy.

Portland

Portland has been doing a great job with the injuries they have although I still don’t think they can beat the Lakers or Denver healthy and thats my point. It makes Cleveland that much better when they have the starters they have and a bench that lets face it 2 or 3 could be starters for most teams in the nba. And its not like years past when they would lose a lead with Lebron on the bench, now they actually increase it. There is no one in the NBA or anywhere for that matter who is a better all around player than Lebron. I know Kobe can score and Howard can stand under the basket and block shots but I never see highlights of either one with run downs or assists like Lebron. I think if they were healthy they (PORTLAND) would be a 3 seed in the playoffs maybe a 2. But hats off, they are doing an excellent job with what they have to work with. I think the coach hurt himself at practice because they didn’t have enough healthy bodies to practice with. He should be coach of the year.

5 more wins to set a new record for consecutive wins 2 years in a row…

…and like I mentioned before…who would have thought early on in the season we’d be sitting at exactly the same record as last year after 50?

I thought maybe (because I thought shaq would make an impact) we would be at the same place.

the question is, if you told someone we would lose mo williams for a month and delonte would have problems getting onto the court what would they think our record would be like?

by bross09 on Feb 3, 2010 9:35 PM CST up reply actions

MO & DELONTE

I thought with the experience we had on the bench from the starters from last year and the new additions we would be ok, but not almost perfect. I think the bigger problem is when Leon Poe comes back what then? I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the trading block for Jammison. I really think he’ll be a Cav maybe even before the all star break but definatly after. Hell Lebron even wants him, and I think Jammison already knows the system, after all he and the Wizards have seen it more than any other team in the NBA!

Honestly, I don’t think playing the cavs a lot means he will transition smooth into our system. even if someone played every game against the cavs, it might not even be a smooth transition. I doubt playing the cavs helps at all.

I don’t honestly see powe being on the block. With the way the team is playing now, I think ferry would rather want to get deeper and younger instead of giving up our bench to get a (admittedly very good) 33 year old forward. I would also think that danny ferry would not want to trade for a veteran, who has had nagging injuries all year, and who is also in a slump. he also has never been a great defensive player and it is unclear if he will fit in defensively.

a month or 2 ago I would not have minded that, but jamison has been injured, slumping, and the team is playing great. this could end up doing more harm than good.

Before Thursday’s game there was a pregame interview, from earlier in the day, with Ferry and followup by Windhorst..Essentially it came down to..If the Cavs give up JJ they want an all star in return and no older than thirty…Ferry said he would be happy to stand pat with the team he has UNLESS someone offered him a steal…
After the past couple weeks with LeBron giving it up to JJ and JJ playing like he is, who in their right mind would give him away to a Conference rival for a guy with maybe 3 years left in him and an ungodly large contract?

by cavslandrocks on Feb 4, 2010 10:42 PM CST up reply actions

I agree…

I love where our team stands. I do not want a trade at this point. it is more than knowing the offense like stated earlier, it is chemistry. lebron has great court chemistry with JJ. why break up a good thing is my theory??

I think ferry is truly doing the right thing.

by bross09 on Feb 8, 2010 9:51 PM CST up reply actions

Everyone loves where we stand now.

But isn’t the fact that LeBron wants Jamison making you think lets get Jamison. I really don’t think LeBron is trying to stick it to Cleveland by having us pick up a worthless old guy and then skip town on us. I say if thats what he and management want. Do It.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

1. I have not heard lebron say he wants jamison.

2. I don’t know if the front office wants it. if they see it as a wise move, I still wouldn’t like it but I trust ferry. He has publicly stated though that a team would basically have to make him an offer he couldn’t refuse. he is happy with the team and for good reason.

Are all caps really necessary?

by hans on Feb 5, 2010 10:28 PM CST reply actions

in all fairness...

theres seriously two views on this issue, non cavs fans think cavs are overhyped and cavs fans think cavs dont get enough credit, i really don’t think this is that big of an issue at all, who cares what the media thinks as long as you win a championship? the media is bs anyways

by yoyotw666 on Feb 7, 2010 2:37 AM CST reply actions

I agree…It is a little bit of both though.

I was talking to my friend who was in town to visit his cousins and go to a cleveland game. he is a knicks fan (I don’t hold it against him, at least he doesn’t like the yanks). he was upset that after the game the cleveland media (but much more the callers) were calling the knicks NBA siberia. I agree it is a little harsh.

At the same time, you get outside of cleveland, and they get no credit at all. on NBA.com, they finished 3rd last month in the voting by the staff of the best team of the month. they had the best record. Kenny Smith has joined the Charles Barkley circle of cavs bashing. he doesn’t acknowledge when the cavs do well and every win to him must be luck…

In cleveland, there definitely is a bias, but at the same time many non-cleveland entities are not giving the cavs credit at all (or giving them credit at all for beating the lakers twice)
