Akron Hammer....You Like It??

The nickname "Akron Hammer" has caught fire and it was started by Sportsnation's co-host Michelle Beadle. The first time I heard it, I thought it was horrible. But it has been used a lot and I'm wondering if people really do like it or do they think Michelle Beadle is trying to make a name for herself. I think King James is a great nickname. It's quick and easy to say and you don't have to think about it to know why he's called that.

About King James

What is it, he is King of, Exactly?

"Memphis then used a pick-and-roll to get Conley free and he drove past Shaquille O'Neal for the go-ahead layup."

I sure hope that you are joking.

Apparently…Lebron’s also a ‘classless turd’ as well according to BS Patrol…although he didnt post a poll for that one…lol

He won a High school Title

So he WAS the King of High School basketball for a year in Ohio.

And you are right I will teach my Children to abuse the spectators when things do not go their way in an athletic contest. That is what class is.

I am sure you would have the same defense for Kobe Kicking a Water bottle at your head when something didn’t go his way.

go play in your sandbox.

No one here created that nickname. That was created when the SI article was done while he was in high school. The media, not fans, have run with it since.

If you feel that bothered by it, petition the SI, ESPN, FOX, CBS, etal writers to stop using it.

not bothered

but King would imply he has Won something.

not bothered

Well, something about Lebron bothers you, given your propensity to come here onto a Cavs website and ‘inform’ us how much of classless turd he is, how he doesn’t deserve his nickname, vote on the polls in whatever way you think would benefit the Cavs the least…

You can say whatever you want…I’m not sure, though, what you think you’re accomplishing around these parts. There are Cavs fans (like me), who don’t always care for some of the things he does…although given the scale of things, not shaking hands/kicking a water jug/dancing/posing etc. pales in comparison to, say, bringing guns into the locker room, going to strip clubs till 4 in the morning and missing practice, being involved in sex scandals with women who are not his wife…etc.

To me, like him or not, your absolute vitriol indicates another reason then simple outrage at his ‘antics.’ Let me guess…are you a Magic fan? A Celtics fan? I think that might have juuuuust a little bit more to do with it…instead of any apparent “concern” for the NBA’s integrity level being ‘brought down’ by Lebron rapping during a time out. Just a theory…(of course, I’m suuure you’d be absolutely outraged should he sign with your team in the offseason).

Quite simply if it didn’t bother you, you wouldn’t bother. See how that works?

So do us a favor over here. You made your opinion clear. We get it. Now plz, plz…

I like this…but…how much longer til someone just pulls the plug on this (BS Patrol) troll???..Even his screen name says what he is ..A BullSh1t Troll

Naw…He’s a tool, but I don’t want this board to become like Celticsblog. I’d much rather have this board pretty open and deal with some of that. We can handle it without resorting to the banhammer.
The only real trolls I think deserve banning are game thread spammers.

It does imply something.

He rules the court, unfortunately basketball is a 5 man game and he hasn’t had the type of talent around him that guys like Kobe have had and still have.

They call me the cloud, because I make it rain.

Something Laker fans seem to gloss over when bringing up the rings comparison as if that’s a valid issue. Like I mentioned before…does anyone think for one second if roles were reversed that Lebron wouldn’t have the same amount of rings had he been on those early 00’s Laker teams? The only real comparison can be made is if they face each other in the finals…or if Lebron develops a history of playing poorly in big games. Something I don’t see happening.

Put him in jail,

because that water bottle might have hurt someone.

He’s the single most talented basketball player ever to grace an NBA court, so in the nick name, people refer to him as the king of basketball.

Hope this helped.

:)

Sort of

As a physical specimen, you are absolutely correct. However, there are a myriad of NBA legends (are current players) with far greater court IQ and whathavenot other skills better than those possessed by LBJ. Note: I’m not trying to take away LBJ’s thunder, his talent goes without question.

Tying to steal Marcin Gortat's nickname?

Marcin is known as the Polish Hammer. As much as I dislike LBJ, the Akron Hammer nick sucks.

Well, I’m not sure as to the necessity for another nickname…he’s already got about 10, four good/5 bad…lol

No Boobie starting tonight…Jawad in his place

by cavslandrocks on Feb 4, 2010 6:53 PM CST reply actions

Does Mike Brown hold some kind of animosity towards Boobie?

Or is he unable to play tonight?

We need a game thread right now.

by WaveOcean on Feb 4, 2010 7:06 PM CST up reply actions

OFF SUBJECT

But is there going to be a Live Game Thread for the game vs. the Heat tonight?

by Simmsinns on Feb 4, 2010 7:09 PM CST reply actions

Sorry, I didn’t even notice.

Hope we get a thread.
I want to make fun of Kenny Smith and his ridiculous thoughts on basketball.
(He still thinks Kobe is better than LeBron, even when it’s quite obvious at this point.)
