Gibson > Mo Williams?
I thought Danny Gibson played terrific when Mo was out. Now that Mo has back, Gibson has had a string of "DNP coache's decision." I think Gib has earned the minues. He can do everything offensively that Mo can do, but he is a much better defender than Mo. It was pathetic seeing Rondo blow past Mo repeatedly. Gibson is much quicker and will be able to guard quick points like Rondo.
What do you think? Should Gibson start? Should he get at least 20 min a game and cut down on Mo's minutes?

He wasn't all bad
in the conference finals his rookie year. Haven’t seen him play enough this year to be honest, although I do think he’s earned more than DNP-CD
boo vers mo
no one can understand why boo is not playin,i rrealy don"t like brown without labron he would not be the coach, boo did a great job when he was needed and should be getting time on court now this will jump up and bite boown in the a$$ one day he dose not even tell why he sat him down and is not playing him
Mike Brown
We all know Mike Brown is not the real coach, LeBron is, whatever LBJ wants goes…if LBJ wants Boobie to play Boobie will play. I feel as if Bobbie is playing better than Mo, but Mo is a better point guard, he thinks pass first as opposed to Gibson who is a shoot first type player. Right now, yes Bobbie should be getting the minutes while Mo is finding his stroke again, but Mo is a better point guard overall.
I don’t know man, why don’t you look up some stats and present them back here to show us if Gibson has actually played better than Mo? It’ll probably suffer from SSS (small sample size), but at least it could be a jumping off point to discuss.
Gibson/Mo
I cheched stats & Gibson has 4% higher shooting %over MO on all shooting & 3pt shooting too. Mo is only higher on free throws. That what you wanted to know?

how often was boobie guarded?
He seems to have some sort of skill that makes defenses not guard him. when he hit all those 3s in the playoffs, he was WIDE OPEN…most of his shots are him shooting wide open. if teams guarded him the way they guard mo, I doubt he would be shooting that well at all…he would be shooting similar to Mo IMO.
there is a difference between a guy who can take it to the rim, shoot from 3 point land, hit the midrange, and knock down 3s and a guy who can shoot the open 3. that is all boobie can do really. he is not a good FT shooter at all (is in fact below average) and doesn’t do anything else besides 3s really to contribute. he is basically just passable on defense, he doesn’t pass well, and really doesn’t do anything well besides shoot.
its a start, but lets consolidate those shooting numbers to a metric that includes both and free throws as well, that being True Shooting (TS)
For the season:
Mo Williams .571
Daniel Gibson .617
-both are excellent, but Gibson is having a great season shooting.
But what about defense?
From Basketball-references page, here’s the defensive rating (DRtg) which is the estimate of how many points a player would allow per 100 possessions.
Mo Williams: 106
Daniel Gibson: 108
And assists. Tough to gauge perhaps, but to even out the playing time issue lets look at least look at assists per 36 minutes played for each:
Mo Williams: 5.2
Daniel Gibson: 2.4
And finally whenever looking at numbers its important to consider the usage percentage (Usg%) simply because the heavier the load a player is asked to carry on offense the more difficult it is to be efficient in comparison to players with lower usage rates.
Mo Williams: 22.4%
Daniel Gibson: 14.4%
I think its safe to say Gibson’s TS% would drop with an increased role, but since he’s shooting so well as is, the difference between him and Williams in that regard would be negligible. The assist stat is pretty telling in how each player is used differently on offense though both considered point guards. Gibson does little to faciliate on offense at this point, he’s played to his sharp-shooting strength. Defensively the idea that Gibson has played better than Williams is not likely true. I’d conclude that they aren’t much different defensively at this point, I’d still favor Williams, but neither is a shut down defender at the guard position and both would likely be the weakest defender on the floor for the Cavs in most sets.
I think increased playing time for Gibson wouldn’t be such a bad thing, if for only to give Williams a bit less of minutes load, and the Cavs wouldn’t really miss that much of a beat. As it stands, the two players are probably playing near the same level (aside from facilitating the offense or “running the point” as you’d want to call it, where Williams is the clear better of the two) and that does say alot for the year that Daniel Gibson is having.

Nice analysis
But your last statement tells it all
(aside from facilitating the offense or "running the point" as you’d want to call it, where Williams is the clear better of the two)
The Cavs need a point guard. A facilitator. Someone, other than LeBron, at this position. Mo and Delonte are our point guards. Parker is 6’6" and Gibson is not. Jawad Williams and Moon are much taller than Gibson. Therefore ,even though he has skills and is a great teammate Gibson becomes the odd man out. We need to guard larger bodies from the #2 guard position. With the need for bigs like Powe and maybe Jackson having to play until Z or Shaq come back there is no spot for Gibson right now.
I really like Gibson. But I get why MB isn’t playing him right now.

Look at that . . . an intelligent comment backed up by facts and reasoning. That’s what more people need to do around here.

gibson/Mo
i agree gibson should be getting at least 10 min. a game. I think he’s quicker than Mo & plays better all around D. He did great job when Mo was out & does deserve playing time. Browns a idiot coach & will hurt them come playoff time. His players is what makes him look good. My opinion is that MO, West & Boobie should get more time than Parker. He’s sub par to nba for a #2 guard offensively & if you watch him he’s sub pardefnsively too. Three best defensive players on the team are West, James & Verajoa, hands down. Mo is to streaky & falls in love w/himself real quick & hedoesnt get many assists, not for a pt. guard. Best way to evaluate player is to watch just him on both sides of the ball, not the whole team & you’d be surprised what you see. Try it. Go Cavs

It’s a good problem to have, don’t get me wrong, that we have TOO MANY PLAYERS that deserve lot’s of minutes.
I agree, no need to panic because of a few losses after the All-Star break, but we should not ignore how well the team was playing with Gib and Jawad Williams getting solid minutes. Now these guys can’t get any minutes.
It’s hard to compare Mo and Gib based on stats stats since their minutes are totally different, but Gibson’s shooting percentages are higher. Statistics don’t always show a player’s value, especially on D. Watch Mo try and guard a quick PG…he will get destroyed. Daniel does a much better job on the ball.
Who would you rather watch guard Jameer Nelson or Rondo?
Yepi think Boobie is better & quicker on D. I think Mo & JJ are players who like the offense side, but not on D. Sometime remind me of Gooden Lol remember him, Mr Crybaby lol What you think bout Z? Im not a ig Z fan,but it would be nice for him to retire as a cav. Think they’ll try n get himw/Shaq down ? Do yu agree on 3 D players i mentined? I maybe crazy but im a Wildthing fan. He’s helps this team in so many ways. The guy is like the everyready bunny .lol Some say hedoesnthave enough offense, but if tey feed him more on cuts & actually let him post up, he’d probly avg 12-14 a game & he’sgunna get 8-12 rebounds for you.

if you judge mo on the game against boston yeah, boobie might be better. but Mo is a MUCH better defensive player. he is just as quick and IS coming off of a pretty major injury. guys come off injuries slower…it is a fact of sports…
boobie is NOT a good defensive player at ALL. Mo williams was a decent defensive player before he came here. he was good but lost focus at times. he is now focused on the defensive end. If I had to say who our 2nd best defensive guard was after delonte, it would probably be Mo. Then AP, THEN boobie.
I feel like mo could use getting benched for some more minutes, and not just so LeBron can run point. Need Gipson pushing Mo so that mo can remain focused and such.
I’m not a big Mo williams fan I feel like at heart he wants to be a big star and hates being in LeBron’s massive shadow.
"My signature is only one line. You're welcome."
What do you mean?
I’m curious what Mo has done to make you feel like he wants to be a big star? He has played well for two seasons for us. He has not shot well since his shoulder injury. He has been a very important part of this team and its winning records. I don’t see any action from Mo that would indicate he hasn’t been the best teammate for LeBron. I’m really curious what it is that you have seen.
