I don't think AV is a "dirty" player...
just because he ranks in the top 100 (85th) of fouls per 48 minutes does not prove a thing either.
Dirty is grabbing ,bumping, grinding using your elbows up high ( like Dwight Howard does all the time). Again, that is not his game. Dirty is intentionally trying to inflict pain or injure a player. ( see Ron Artest, or Ray Allen elbowing AV in the nuts last year)
That is NOT how Anderson plays! The guy hustles and grabs rebounds and makes back-taps by getting good position and having a great motor. His hustle certainly irritaits opposing players who often are left looking foolish because of it. But that’s not dirty.
I'm Polish...what's your excuse?
From an outsiders perspective
I think you are spot on with your assesment. As a fan of another team I absolutely hate Varejao but I don’t think he is really a dirty player.
Wait, 2 things
First off, I am glad someone/some people called out Kobe for the extracurricular contact he pulled/pulls. This is why I dislike the man; not for the Colorado incident, but for those cheap shots. That totally showed a lack of respect for the sport/for my first love.
Second, Anderson Varejao dirty? I’m not a homer by any stretch; I respectfully admire the Cavalier organization. But dirty? Pesky maybe, but not dirty. And I thought Euro/international players flopped all the time, not engage in dirty tactics? Wha? How…do I…shot…web?

Canadian Cavalier (or bandwagon fan if you purists must insist)
Every NBA team needs chippy players
Isiah Thomas needed Bill Laimbeer. Michael Jordan needed Dennis Rodman. And why should Varejao care what Sports Illustrated, let alone Americans in general, think of him?
