Cavaliers 'Have Edge' in race to sign LeBron James

Every comment that comes out of LeBron James' mouth for the next 4, 5, 6 weeks is going to get analyzed over and over again.  Chances are, you'll see experts in non-verbal communication speaking out about what LeBron really means when he speaks publicly,  which before now hadn't happened since the end of the season.

As was reported before, LeBron recently taped an interview with Larry King, due to air this Friday.  Already, the first quotes from the taping are coming out.  The first, regarding LeBron's familiarity with the city and fans should make us Cavs fans feel pretty good....right now at least.

James answered "absolutely" when asked by King if Cleveland has an edge to re-sign him due to his familiarity with the team. The interview was taped Tuesday at his home near Akron and will air Friday on CNN's "Larry King Live," capping the program's 25th anniversary celebration on the network.

"Absolutely. Because, you know, this city, these fans, I mean, have given me a lot in these seven years. And, you know, for me, it's comfortable. So I've got a lot of memories here. And -- and so it does have an edge," James told King.

Of course, we still have 30 days until James becomes a Free Agent, and another 10-14 days after that with teams from Los Angeles, Chicago and New York set to pull out all the stops.

Buckle up Cavaliers fans!

Amen, brother LeBron

I’m probably going to get some hate mail from the 212 area code for my piece at Fox Sports on this little slice of news.

Good stuff!! I don’t think too many people know about the number changing ordeal. Not too big of a deal as to if he wouldn’t have done it. Also good hit on the Chinese trade. Didn’t know that.
One thing I would like to hit on is this “market” idea. I do not believe in cities being g markets for players. I believe the player is the market. Jerseys and shoes and some cases clothes, are bought all over the world. People in Mexico, Spain, Jamaica and other countries like these have been seen sporting their favorite nba players. So, not saying you did, dont give this “Cleveland is too small of a market for a player like Lebron James”. The player is the market not the team or city. Of course only in the sports world

Any capologist here?

Any chance the Cavs could sign Lebron and do a sign and trade for another max player (i.e Bosh or Wade)?

All Truth Goes Through Three Stages 1.It is ridiculed 2.It is violently opposed 3.Finally, it is accepted as self-evident. kinesiologist
Baseball’s biggest busts Andy Marte.

Not a capologist but if my memory serves me correct..

trading Delonte and Jamison or Varejao in a sign and trade would most definitely be able to get us another max player.. I think anyways, but those 3 guys have the biggest contracts, not to mention the fact that both Delonte & Jamison are on expirings.. I think we all know about Andy’s contract, ugh..

Let's say, for example, we re-sign LeBron

Then we deal Delonte ($4,658,500) & Jamison ($13,348,905) to Toronto for someone like Bosh or to Atlanta for someone like Joe Johnson, I think those deals would put us under the cap.. Definitely if we were to add let’s say Boobie ($4,015,300) or Telfair ($2,700,000).. The good thing about most of these contracts is that they’re on expirings, it makes that very attractable.. When it comes to s&t’s, I think Andy, Delonte, Jamison & Hickson will definitely be the guys mentioned and talked about

I think they should keep Jamo.

Personally I don’t see them moving jj. Lebron likes him and spoke out about him. If we’re trying to keep the king, why would we trade a solid young guy that Lebron is very high on.

by The naome40 on Jun 3, 2010 8:14 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions

to get another star..

LBJ understands that JJ Hickson is an attractable guy and if he wants a Bosh, Johnson or Chris Paul to play in Cleveland, Hickson is definitely on the way out

by AKAY47 on Jun 3, 2010 10:20 AM CDT up reply actions

That would work if we would be able to sign a solid mid level guy. Depends on who is out there. Just seems to be a lot of our better guys but if that’s what it takes
