Well we all know Mo is on the trading block, and the Trail Blazers are apparently showing "strong interest" (scroll down, it's in the last paragraph). Looking at their roster noone stands out to me except for Oden. They have Camby and Przybilla so they could be open to letting go of him.
What do you guys think? I think it could work. Yes, it's risky, Oden may never completely overcome his injuries. But to be totally honest I think we have to take a risk with our roster. Getting CP3 or Bosh are pipe dreams. We need to be creative to make something happen. Oden is still young, and remember that Z had a similar run of bad injuries and he managed to have a productive career over a long period of time and Oden's ceiling is much higher than Z's.
Another reason to do this, Varejao is the closest thing we have to a Center on our roster because Z and Shaq are coming off contract. The way I see it is Oden could be Varejao's backup this season while we ease him into playing time and if he can put together a injury free season he could be ready for starters minutes the next season. As for losing Mo, he's now had 2 poor post seasons in a row. Oden may not do as much for us in the 82 game season but that's not where we need help, we did go 11-0 without Mo this season, if Oden is still standing in May he'll be a bigger help than Mo.
So what does everyone think of a Mo for Oden trade?
