Cavaliers Win Summer League Opener

The Cleveland Cavaliers opened play in the NBA Summer League this afternoon with an 88-82 triumph over the D-League Select in Las Vegas, Nevada.

J.J, Hickson led Cleveland with 18 points, while Tasmin Mitchell gobbled up eleven rebounds and Pooh Jeter dished out seven assists.

The Cavs overcame a four-point deficit entering the final period by outscoring the Select 28-18 in the stanza.

For the game, Cleveland shot 54% from the field, including 43% on threes.  Oddly, a "regular" game nemesis reared its head again today as the Cavs shot only 59% from the foul line.  Hickson did not help by going 0 for 6 at the stripe, but hey, a win is a win!  Yes?

Cleveland takes on the Phoenix Suns tomorrow as the Cavs play their second of five Summer League games.

I agree, nice solid 13 points and nice to see someone just drain free throws.

James or Jeter?

I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.

There was one sequence in this game that sticks out in my mind.

It was when Eyenga made that sick block (although it was probably goaltending) to initiate a break. They got it up the floor and finished with an amazing alley oop to Hickson. That’s the up-tempo style I’d like to see the Cavs go for.

I live in Cincinnati. I'm a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cincinnati sports teams. Besides UC, I'm a Xavier fan for basketball. I also like the Ohio State Buckeyes for all sports.

My name is Tyler. So I guess now you know about me.
