should Cavs pursue Greg Oden?
Looking at 2011 FA list and I thought maybe the Cavs should go after Oden and also bring in Mike Conley (also a FA in 2011) to reunite these guys. There are other guys on that FA list I would prefer to have, but my hunch is we could actually land this guy and it might even be at a discounted rate if we bring in his buddy Conley.
I know all the negative things about Oden and his injuries, but he is still young and this might be our best chance to land a "superstar." We bring in Conley to lure him in and to make him happy. He seems like a shy guy that would enjoy a smaller market as opposed to the blaring spotlight of NY, LA or even Miami. He also might like being closer to home and being back in the midwest. And he would be somewhat of a "hometown" guy being a buckeye.
Do you think it's a good idea? Could we get him at a decent rate or will there be a bidding war for this guy? Who else on 2011 FA list would you want, and who could we actually have a chance at?

I wouldn't mind it if he came cheap...
We might get a bit of a hometown discount (even though he didn’t grow up in Ohio, it was in New York) because he went to OSU and we might get a bit of a discount if we get his friend Conley.
That being said, he’s just too much of an injury risk to give a big contract to.
I live in Cincinnati. I'm a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cincinnati sports teams. Besides UC, I'm a Xavier fan for basketball. I also like the Ohio State Buckeyes for all sports.
My name is Tyler. So I guess now you know about me.
NW you are nuts... you know that right?
No way that Portland gives up Oden unless he has another terrible injury season, at which point we wouldn’t want him anyways.

Unrestricted free agency is an interesting thing.

True, but next summer Oden will be restricted free agent =]

I heard something about Memphis...
O.J. Mayo has openly said that he would like to move to the Point Guard position. Maybe, rather than create a conflict, we could get him for West’s contract and a 2nd Rounder from Miami.
Oden is attainable for Mo Williams and possibly giving up one of those 1st Round selections that we got from Miami.
And I’m sure we’ll be looking to deal Shaq in a sign-and-trade. And we’ll be looking to move that trade exception.
I'd take Oden.
I attribute the injuries to the constant moisture of Portland.
Close. It only counts in Horseshoes, hand grenades and Penn State football.
