Marvin Williams To Cavs Looks Dead
As quickly as word came down that the Cavaliers and Hawks were on the cusp of a deal that would have sent Shaq to Atlanta in a Sign-and-Trade deal for Marvin Williams, the deal has died. According to Brian Windhorst, neither side seems to be interested in making something happen right now.
#Cavs & Hawks have talked but there's no sign-and-trade w/Shaq coming. Doesn't sound like either party is very interested now.
The search continues for the Cavaliers, who continue to look for ways to improve the roster post-LeBron James.

Glad to see the team is looking for a good SF...
Swing and a miss but at least they are trying to plug up a huge hole in the dam.

Holy crap
Can we not throw in Delonte West? Or even get a three-way deal done with Portland and throw Mo Willaims into the mix?
we have to upgrade at SF,
regardless I hope Windhorst’s report that the heat are signing Jawad Williams is correct. good riddance
Im the poor man's corey maggette!!!
Why? Jawad Williams isn’t a bad player. He’d be a useful guy to have on the team next year, so why would you be happy if he’s gone?

I didnt find him to be a useful player last year, actually quite the contrary.

Jawad Williams is exactly the kind of guy you want playing for low dollars. I am sure the Heat would love to have him, but they have little chance of signing him as he is at a stage in his career where he needs to a) make some money for a few years on an extended contract for more than league minimum and b) have a real shot at regular minutes. Cavs probably are playing hardball with him, but since they have the chance to match. Jawad needs a team with cap room to step up and make him an offer. Surely Lebron knows this, so my guess is Lebron is doing Jawad a favor putting his name out there, thinking he might encourage another team to make an offer.
this team would have been screwed even with williams. all signs pointing to rebuild mode. tons of picks and salary cap relief in the next couple years.
one guy leaving the team leveled the franchise. from back to back 60 win seasons to being out of the playoffs.
i think he was being sarcastic.

Chemo made a joke. gujuknick’s reply made it clear that the joke went over his head.

Crisis averted. No reason in rebuild mode to acquire mediocre players (at best) with large contracts.
Agreed
Patience is good. That exception lasts for year.
I can’t quite figure out the difference between the 16 mil exception and the mle, but whatever they are we got time to use them.
That said, I like Marvin Williams pretty much. Depending on contract situation it might be a good move.
We need to trade for draft picks and win about 17 games next year. That’s how this league works.
