Miami hands Cavs first Summer League defeat

The Miami Heat's Summer League team handed the Cavaliers their first defeat of the "season" with a 73-69 victory over Cleveland on Saturday afternoon.

With another game tomorrow, against Milwaukee, no Cav received significant minutes.  Danny Green led the way for Cleveland with 17 points, while Jerome Dyson added 14 off the bench.  But 38% overall shooting pretty much decided things in this insignificant game between two teams that will play - shall we say - more intense games later this year and/or early next year.

And by the way?  Pooh Jeter, who is basically being written off as being a member of the Cavaliers in the coming season, led Cleveland in assists yet again.  Seems kind of difficult to let such a playmaker go.

Guess who's back...

Anyone remember me?

I'm a diehard Cavs fan, proud to say I never owned a LeBron jersey.

Hi Wave, welcome back!

Hi AncientMariner

You’ve been doing a great job taking care of the site.

Well, as you can see, I’m not dead. More importantly, I haven’t joined the Lakers. And I’m not “CavsLeBronFan”; I had no interest whatsoever to join the Heat (although I still want Big Z to win a championship). I’m still a Cavs fan. I’ve just been away a long time.

Thanks, I appreciate that, John and I are trying to keep the interest going through the summer, kind of a bizarre off-season and might be some lean times ahead, but we’ll keep the fires burning. Hey, check out our other site to, SBN-Cleveland, John and I are also over there, it’s a general Cleveland sports site, you might like it.

unfortunately my interest in Lebron and the heat not winning one trumps Z winning one right now…too bad he didn’t go to another contender…

Man, it’s good to see you again. I’m glad you’re still around, I missed ya.

Why aren't we signing Pooh?

I think, for a franchise that has trouble getting ANY free agents to sign on, we can’t afford to let go of any play makers.

Admittedly this is the summer league. But was nobody in the Cavs coaching staff thinking that a “W” against these guys might be motivational? Hickson played half the game? Game tomorrow or no game tomorrow, you got to leave it all out on the floor today.

In other news, a spot needs to be found for Pooh. Nicknames like that can’t be given up easily. Can’t you just hear “Pooh for three” hanging in the arena air at the Q?

Every pessimist thinks himself a realist. In the case of Cleveland sports fans, they are probably right.

Pooh Jeter. I almost want to sign him because of his name.

We are all witnesses... to a traitor.

add in ‘hot wad’ and we got a pottymouth team right there.

I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.
