Could Cavs Work Three Way Trade Involving Paul?
I am wondering if the Cavs could work out a deal with the Hornets whereby Paul came to the Cavs for draft choices, Antawn Jamison, and draft choices and then we trade Paul to the Magic for their point guard, Nelson. We end up with a good point guard, the Magic end up with Paul and draft choices. Maybe we take on the four year contract of one of their players that they are trying to unload.

If we got Paul, why would we turn around and give him up for Jameer Nelson? I’m not sure if I follow what the 3-team trade is. Maybe you could organize it like this…
Cavs get:
~~~~~
Hornets get:
~~~~~

Only if we are the recipients of Eddie Curry from NYK
and give up Varejao.
Close. It only counts in Horseshoes, hand grenades and Penn State football.

in sumation: he's going to the knicks to create a less-than-super-but-still-really-good-team.

Why would Chris Paul want to go to Cleveland?
He’d be in an even worse situation than the one he’d be leaving in NO.
This isn’t even a realistic option for him.

People forget that this team was competing last year.
Why do people act like if we get another star we’ll be a trainwreck? Paul would put us right back near the top of the Eastern Conference. Oh, and he has enough competitive fire to not sink the whole team with a half-assed playoff effort. Please explain why this team would be so bad with Paul.
Of course we won’t get him but we’d be really good if it did somehow happen.

No one is saying this team would be a trainwreck with another superstar, but if that superstar is Paul then yes it would. Why would you want a guy that is clearly influenced by Lebron in saying that his current situation isn’t good enough, he wants out if you can’t bring me superstars? You think that NY comment was a joke? If he could make that happen, he would. He’s looking for an easy way out and it’s not in cleveland

It's not that getting another star would make your team a "trainwreck"...
It’s just that your team isn’t going to get another “star”. My statement was that it would make absolutely no sense for CP3 to go to Cleveland because of the situation there.
To get CP3 you’d have to give up what would amount to 1 of your 2 best players along with a good young player and future pics. NO has made it pretty clear that they’re not going to give him up for “nothing” (i.e. some over the hill player with an expiring contract and a marginal young player). They expect talent back or they’ll just keep him until they absolutely have to move him (contract year). So why would he leave a team with 1 or 2 good players and no shot of winning to go to a team who would need to trade away what little talent it has (some combination of Mo Williams, Hickson, Jamison, AV, Boobie, etc…) and thus becomes a team with 1 or 2 good players and no shot at winning?
Unfortunately, your team won and lost through LeBron. LeBron was the sole reason for your team’s success. Much like Iverson with the Sixers. He made the player’s around him better and when LeBron wasn’t “on” (i.e. the playoffs), the rest of the team wilted. There just isn’t any incentive for a top notch player to go to Cleveland when the perception around the league is that of a team filled with second fiddles, serious cap issues and a vindictive and childish owner who now (IMHO) would get a questioning eye from any players he might try to bring in.

but theres only 2 factors that really matter
1. CP gave a short list of teams he wants to be traded to, the cavs arent on it.
2. CP is good friends with lebron, and going to the cavs like that would put some awkward strain on their friendship.
It really doesn’t matter what he wants anyways. If the Hornets felt like the Cavs could make the best offer (not going to happen, but it’s hypothetical) then he just has to shut his mouth and go like a good little boy. He doesn’t have a NTC on his contract.

possibly, but if he makes it known at all he doesnt want to play in a city, it pretty much kills that deal.
LOL
right after i wrote that, i read this
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5414701
And if you think that the player can't force a team to send him where he wants to go even without a NTC...
… then you’re being incredibly naive.
As an example, let’s use Cleveland. Say Cleveland does make the best offer. Mo, JJ & a 1st rounder. It’s the best offer that NO can get. And as soon as CP3 and his agent hear of it, they make it perfectly clear that he’s going to be incredibly unhappy going to a team he didn’t want to go to and has absolutley NO INTENTION of re-signing with the team when his contract is up.
Now, does Cleveland’s owner take a season or two rental on CP3 knowing he’s getting nothing back and losing 2 of his better players in the process?
You don’t think that sort of thing happens all the time?
It’s a player’s league, friend. If anything, the impending lockout should make it completely obvious. The owners are more than willing to close up shop for a season and lose 100’s of millions of dollars just to try to tip the balance back to them and away from the players and the union.

I know when I've been beat.
This is a valid argument and I really have no response.

dont like the trade because
i dont want the magic to have both CP and howard. That is painful to imagine. It may not be realsitic for the cavs to get CP, but that doesnt mean they should help another team get him.
