Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Hey FTS crew, Mike Payne here, editor of DetroitBadBoys and a genuine brother-in-respect to the tragedy you all dealt with this summer. I can't imagine how much it stings, but I'm confident that your team has a chance to put up a winning record in 2010-11.

As a long time fan of Ramon Sessions, I feel that your team has secured a coup in acquiring the most underrated point guard in the league. I've long followed Sessions, annoyed my peers on DetroitBadBoys about my love for the young fella, and still wish he could be a Piston.

I submit this link as I have long scouted Ramon and thought that, in case some of you aren't familiar with him, he is a fantastic talent that has never truly been given a chance to shine.

This is a much bigger win for the Cavs than the rest of the league may understand. While your starting point may be locked up under Mo Williams, if Sessions winds up with starters minutes your record will be better for it.

Best of luck in 2010-11. Know that may of us Detroit Pistons fans never had any qualms with your city, your jersey or your team, just the princess that is now working on her tan in south beach.

Nice write up Mike.

Who are you referring to when you mention that the Pistons have a thing for journeymen guards from Minn? Pardon my ignorance of recent Piston’s lore.

The last time Dumars acquired a misused, misunderstood, journeyman point guard from the Timberwolves…

Thanks Zcle! The fellow I’m referring to there was Chauncey Billups, who was undervalued and underused in Minny before Joe Dumars acquired him.

That was my guess. Man, he has really proven himself, hasn’t he. Still working great magic out west.

Thanks for the answer, I was wondering about it.

Sessions might actually get a starting job if he's good enough.

Mo is more of an undersized 2. He’s not a great ballhandler. I hear Sessions is good enough guarding the 2, so Scott may start him at the 1, guarding the 2 and Mo at the 2, guarding the 1. Either that or he’ll be a sixth man. I also like the idea of Ryan Hollins. We need some athletic big men if Scott is serious about this up-tempo offense. The pick we got is just icing on the cake. Also, Delonte will be waived. Maybe we could get him back?I’m kidding, but that would be pretty sweet.

This was a good, well-written post. Thank you for the kind words.

I'm with you

I think the best logical fit would be to give Ramon the start at the one with Williams either at the 2 or as a super sub in the mold of jamal crawford / jason terry. Parker’s size would be best at the 2 next to Sessions, not to mention his 40%+ outside shot, with Williams getting 30 or so minutes off the bench.

…and thanks for the compliments about my article, I appreciate the kind words in return!!

I just saw Rudy Fernandez could be available. The Blazers like Mo a lot. Maybe the Cavs could get rid of one of our two PG’s and fill the hole at the 3 in one trade. I just made a fanpost about this idea.

Great article! I hope he pans out. It’d be great if he comes here with a chip and his shoulder and takes the potential starting role he’ll get here and make a bigger name for himself

College basketball just became more interesting...
