Personal tragedy has struck the Cavaliers on the first day of full-team workouts.  F/C Anderson Varejao was excused from the team due to the death of his grandfather.  He returned to his native Brazil and it is unknown how long he will be gone.  

The Cavaliers released a statement about Varejao - 

Cavaliers forward/center Anderson Varejao has been excused from practice in order to return to Brazil due to the death of his grandfather. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Andy and his family during this difficult time.
