The Cavs will not be contenders anytime soon by depending on the draft process.

THE CAVS HAVE TO GET A SUPERSTAR TO PLAY WITH IRVING!

That's the bottom line.

Let's look at some hypotheticals.

Let's say the Cavs could get a player like Josh Smith from the Hawks. I think the Cavs would instantly be a playoff team. What if we could trade Andy and Boobie for Pau Gasol?

The Cavs would never do it because a trade like this takes huge cojones.

At the end of the day, Gasol is a champion and all star. Andy is putting up great numbers but it's not winning the Cavs any games. With Kyrie and Andy the Cavs should be a better team. The bench isn't great but they should still be better with the play of Andy and Kyrie but they're not.,

With Gasol, you get a champion that's been there. You also get added press and a few more televised games. You then have Kyrie and Gasol plus Waiters, Thompson, Miles, Zeller, keep Pargo, Gee and keep Casspi if you can get him for 1.2 - 1.5 million a year. Get rid of everyone else.

Then draft a top SF and maybe another PF or Center.

You will have:

Irving, Pargo, Waiters and Miles at PG and SG.

Gee, Casspi and the 1st draft pick at SF.

Gasol, Thompson, Zeller and the 2nd draft pick at PF and Center.

This would be a playoff team. Especially if one of the draft picks turns out to be a star or Waiters.

Sadly, the problem with Cleveland teams is they don't do anything risky. They don't make bold moves.

Look at the Rockets. It was bold moves that got Lin and Harden. They're a better team now and you add a player and they're a threat in the West. They're 3 in points but they give up the most points in the NBA. So they have the offense, they just have to work on defense.

Andy and Irving are more efficient than Lin and Harden yet the Rockets have a better record and they are 3rd in points scored. Why? Why isn't there any growth with the Cavs when you have Andy and Irving? Again, a star player like Gasol will make a HUGE difference with the Cavs.

People talk about Gasol and injuries but that's another myth. Last year he played 65 f the 66 games and the year before that he played in 82 games.

The Cavs should offer Andy and Boobie to the Lakers for Gasol.
