Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson is out for the All-Star Festivities in Orlando this weekend. The highly paid Johnson is battling left knee tendinitis.
With Cavaliers star rookie Kyrie Irving waiting in the wings to potentially named as a replacement by commissioner David Stern I almost got excited when I saw Johnson was out.
But, Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is the player actually replacing Johnson according to multiple sources. The currently suspended Rondo is averaging 14.8 points, which is a career high, and 9.6 assists.
It looks like Irving's participation in the ASG Weekend will still just be the Rising Stars Game and the Skills Challenge.
