(SB Nation Cleveland, Ryan Van Bibber) Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving has been named one of two NBA Rookies of the Month for February. The honor is the latest for the Irving, who already has a solid case as the league's Rookie of the Year.
Irving leads the Cavs with an average of 18.5 points per game. The Duke product is shooting 47.8 percent from the field, and sinking 42.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Irving is making 86.9 percent of his free throws for the season.
Cleveland is sitting in third place in the Central Division with a 13-20 record. They have lost their last three games, most recently a Wednesday night game against the Knicks. In spite of their record, Irving looks to have all the makings of a franchise cornerstone, something to give fans hope for the future.
Isaiah Thomas of the Sacramento Kings represented the Western Conference for the Rookie of the Month.
