The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Jason Kapono in the Ramon Sessions trade with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week. On Saturday, the Cavs announced that they waived Kapono and that they will use the roster spot to instead sign Manny Harris for the rest of the season.
The transactions were announced on that Cavaliers official website.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed guard Manny Harris for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant announced today. Per league and team policy, terms of the contract were not announced. Additionally, the Cavaliers have waived forward Jason Kapono.
As you know, Harris has been up and down and up and down and up and down between Cleveland and Canton this year. With Christian Eyenga and Ramon Sessions no longer on the team, you'd have to figure that the Cavs will be forced to give some decent playing time to their new D-League signings. Both Donald Sloan and Manny Harris should get the chance to prove themselves and show that they belong on an NBA roster.
It's nice to have Manny back and it'll be cool to see what Sloan has to offer as a backup point guard.
