As the Cavaliers continue to upset me by sticking in the 8th position in the Draft Lottery, the games to climb the Lottery Ball standings are slipping away.
With the team in desperate need of a second star (and no, Tristan Thompson is never going to be that guy) the chances of the team getting that person with the 8th pick are far lower than if they can get up to 5th or 6th somehow.
Don't believe me? Check out Chad Ford's latest Mock Draft selection for the Cavaliers after the jump.
As you can tell by the picture, he has the team selecting Perry Jones III of Baylor with the 8th pick. I'm not really going to give a big opinion either way on him because I haven't studied any of the prospects yet or watched much college hoops this winter.
All I know is it's imperative to get a higher pick unless we want to end up in mediocrity for the Kyrie era. I simply don't am skeptical that Jones could be the tag team partner with Kyrie Irving to turn our franchise around.
I'm still holding out hope that the Cavaliers will win the lottery and draft Anthony Davis (I also would "settle" for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist or Bradley Beal at this stage). Tristan Thompson is a bit undersized at center sometimes but he can't score and has to play inside anyways so pairing him with Davis would be a nice start up front. But, as of now because of too much winning my dreams have just a 2.8% chance of happening.
I guess I better tell you who Ford has the Cavs selecting with the 25th pick of the first round as well. I don't really care too much about this pick and the second rounders because they're hardly relevant until we get another player on Kyrie's level.
Vanderbilt's Jeff Taylor is selected at 25 with the Lakers first round pick in Ford's Mock.
Keep in mind, this is Insider Content but take a look here to find the entire analysis of his picks.
