Evan Fournier recently played in the Adidas Eurocamp and this is what was said.
Today is day two of Adidas Eurocamp 2012 and as promised, French shooting guard Evan Fournier participated in five-on-five scrimmages. As expected, he was the best player on the court posting game-high numbers in points, assists and steals.
He scored 12 points on 5/9 shooting (2/3 from 3-point range, 0 trips to the charity stripe), 4 assists and 3 steals while playing solid defense. There’s a full stat sheet of the scrimmage after the jump.
ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla was impressed by Fournier’s play, tweeting he’s an "athletic wing with excellent feel for game," and adding he’s "easily good enough to go 20-30 in 1st Round," of the NBA draft. Jonathon Givony of DraftExpress tweets Fournier’s play was "smooth, smart, making all right plays," and is "definitely a level above talent-wise."
Irving/Fournier /Barnes with TT/Fab Melo/Andy or O'Quinn/Ezeli would be very nice. You get a backup PG for Irving and you have a nice rotation. The Cavs could go big or play small and control the tempo of games.
Here's a video of Fournier playing a game.
I hope the Cavs take a look at him. I said last year that the Cavs should pick Tristan Thompson at number 4. When I saw he had a higher offensive efficiency rating on Ken Pomeroy's rankings than Derrick Williams, I called a few local sports shows and when I mentioned Tristan Thompson at 4 people said "who" or "no way."
I think the Cavs saw the same rankings because they had an article on offensive efficiency rankings on ESPN around that time and Thompson was ranked higher than Derrick Williams. Evan Fournier with Kyrie Irving in the backcourt and Harrison Barnes at the 3 would be awesome.
