A lot has been made of who we should drafted between Bradley Beal or Harrison Barnes. Unfortunately we cannot have both, so the choice must be made. Here is some pros and cons of both and a few possible scenarios that could turn out to be very beneficial.
Bradley Beal: This guy has been compared to Ray Allen (best case scenario) and James Harden (worst case scenario). To me, if he turned out to be either or that would be a great addition to our team and a great partner with Kyrie. Our back court would be extremely solid for many years to come. (Many people will get mad at me by saying this and not that it would ever happen but imagine if Lebron came back before he retired and played with these two, WOW!) If Beal is there and we draft him, we desperately need a SF to insert in the starting lineup. A couple things are possible here. We could package the rest of our picks and move up to draft Perry Jones or Quincy Miller or we could swing a trade with the Hornets and get Trever Ariza or Emeka Okafor along with their 10th overall pick for Anderson Varejao and our 24th pick overall. With the 10th pick we could grab the same players or reach for Fab Melo. Our possible starting lineup: Irving, Beal, Jones or Miller, Thompson, Okafor.
Harrison Barnes: I actually like Beal better but I think we would benefit more by drafting Barnes. Many have questioned his ability to create shots for himself and his athleticism but I really do not think these things are that valid. Especially when you have a guy like Kyrie creating for you! Not to say Barnes is Durant but he resembles him more than most. He has great height, slender build, and most importantly...a pure stroke. This guy could definitely be a 20 a game guy for us by his second year. He is my dream draft/off-season scenario. We draft Barnes (although I'll miss Beal), we swing a trade with the Hornets to get their 10th pick and also absorb Okafor's ugly contract (not a big deal right now and we let him walk when his contract is up). We lose our 24th pick but with the 10th pick we grab either Austin Rivers or Jeremy Lamb. Imagine our lineup for the future! Irving, Rivers, Barnes, Thompson, Okafor. I love this and this would be a hard lineup to reckon with!
