Always there when we needed you,

Never stopped fighting until the very end,

Truly, a consumate professional.

Highest of highs were promised to you in Cleveland,

Opportunity sent the Chosen One's talents to South Beach,

Never would you taste the thrill of victory.

You were thrust into a position you never wanted,

Playing out your remaining years on a festering team,

Always kept your chin up, despite the disappointment.

Rookie of the Year shall lead us back into glory,

Knowledge of the game imparted by your Veteran Leadership,

Effects of which shall last him a lifetime.

Retirement shall treat you well.
