With the signing of Micheal Eric the Cavaliers now have eight power forwards and centers on their roster (if you include Harangody). Obviously this excessive amount and the lack of wing players leads one to wonder if a trade is on the horizon. The Denver Nuggets seem like an ideal trade partner for two reasons. One is mututal ability to absorb contracts. The Cavs have over $17 million in cap space, while the Nuggets have a $13 million dollar trade exception from the Nene trade (I understand that there are rules that prohibit teams from trading a player along with using an exception, but these are typically called into the league office as two seperate trades). This allows the teams to make virtually any trade they want. Two, the Nuggets have an excess of wing players but could use some depth in their frontcourt. Javale McGee and Kenneth Faried are promising, but the Nuggets may want more bigs beyond those two along with Anthony Randolph and Kosta Koufos. They are also lacking in three point shooting.
I've looked at a few trades that would make sense for both teams, such as Anderson Varejao for Wilson Chandler and a 2013 first round pick, or AV for Chandler and Corey Brewer. Another trade might be Daniel Gibson and Samardo Samuels for Corey Brewer and either Jordan Hamilton and Julyan Stone. If you have any other ideas, share them and let's have some fun during this quiet time for basketball!
