It was brought to our attention today via email that some people are not happy with two things in my "Best of the Century" articles.
First off, the issue of comment moderation/productive discussion was something that isn't agreed upon by all. Also, the exclusion of Anderson Varejao from the "Power Forward" article bothered a few commenters.
Since I don't consider Varejao a center at all and never have, he wasn't even considered by me at that position. It's the opinion I have and it won't change. If you think he's a power forward that's fine. We don't all have the same views on the game and we shouldn't. Positions are very, very irrelevant anyways.
Productive discussion is something that wasn't taking place in any of these articles (also, the one before with the poll with Boozer, Jamison and Gooden) as no discussion was moved forward with comments on the candidates at hand. Even the winner, after 500+ votes, got essentially no attention from the readership.
What people likely don't know is that the 4-5 comments, which were deleted as they directly turned all the attention away from what was written, have all the replies to those comments are automatically deleted instantly as well. Thus, it looks as if 15 or so comments were removed but that wasn't actually the case.
When an article is written on Fear the Sword with more of an open ended topic like many of Conrad's free agency rumor stuff it's pretty easy to go anywhere with your banter.
But, when an entire comments section ends up being whining and arguing without any focus on the topic at hand that, in my opinion, is far from productive.
I personally questioned why every comment was directed toward Varejao with few people giving any thought to Boozer and his victory in the poll. Why take the conversation instantly in that direction instead of having analytical discussion about CB, AJ and DG and their candidacies?
I believe that Anderson Varejao is a center and that the comments made by multiple posters were very unproductive. Some will agree and some will disagree with those views and any feedback you have is welcome.
My apologies for not getting to this sooner. I wasn't able to get on a computer at all for five or so days last week during which time much of the frustration may have occured.
*I don't speak for any of the other guys as this series was created and written 100% by myself.
