As Traditional Cavaliers Fans we tend to think about the future alot. We no doubt have a lottery pick in the draft coming up and we have a ton of cap space for free agents. First I will adress my opinions on the draft. There are three guys I really am excited about. Shabazz Muhammad, Ben McLemore, and Otto Porter. Muhammad and Porter both play the Small Forward position as McLemore plays the 2. Muhammad this season is shooting 48% from the field followed up by an impressive 44% from 3 point shooting. As well as shooting great He is adding 18 points off 29 mins per game. Muhammad is not the most athletic or the most big swingman I've seen , but his combination of scoring, slashing, intelligence and aggressiveness gives him an advantage over his peers and will allow him to make an in impact on the Cavaliers specifically the large void in in the small Forward position. His downsides would be his passing intincts, driving and finishing using the right side (lefty), and his inconsistent defensive play. Porter stats are similar to Shabazz, 50% from the field, 44% from 3 point range, and 14.7 points per game. Porter in my opinion is not as explosive as Muhammad is on the scoring end but has a better passing and defensive edge to his game over Shabazz. I'm in love with his honey sweet jumper and his consistency. He's silky smooth and Its hard for me to not favor him over Shabazz Muhammad. However. The guy that has my attention and who I want over anyone else in the draft is Ben McLemore. Phenomenal shooter and explosive. He plays great on defense and has great passer intincts. There isn't much of anything about his game I can acknowledge that has rubbed me in a wrong way. I think he could stretch the floor with his great 3point shooting and mid range. Irving and Mclemore in my opinion would make an explosive backcourt, something to reckon with for years to come.....
Also I am going to give a list of notable 2013 free agents that have caught my eye. Feel free to express your opinions on my analysis of the upcoming draft and the Free Agents we should go after. Thanks guys.
