Cleveland Cavaliers assign Carrick Felix, Sergey Karasev, and Henry Sims to Canton Charge

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Cavaliers made some roster moves on Wednesday afternoon.

The NBA season starts before the NBA D-League season starts. That's the main reason why guys like Henry Sims, Carrick Felix, and Sergey Karasev have been on the bench during Cavaliers games this season. We knew pretty much all along that those guys wouldn't play significant roles in Cleveland this season, but they didn't have anywhere else to go. Now that the D-League season has started, they can head over to Canton.

On Wednesday afternoon, the team announced that Sims, Karasev, and Felix were assigned to the Canton Charge and would be available to play tonight against the Tulsa 66ers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have assigned guard/forward Carrick Felix, guard/forward Sergey Karasev and center Henry Sims to the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers exclusively owned and operated NBA Development League team, Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts.

This is going to be something that they do on a relatively regular basis. It's a little bit tricky, actually. They want to maximize the amount of playing time that these guys get with the Charge, but at the same time want to make sure that they have enough healthy bodies in Cleveland just in case. I'm sure we'll see similar roster moves over and over throughout the season but it will be somewhat important to remember which players are actually available for the Cavs to use.

I assume that this move is just a short one to get those guys some playing time in tonight's Charge game and that some of them will be back with the Cavs when they make their road trip to play the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat this weekend.
