Paul Pierce to Cleveland?

According to Waiting for Next Year, the Cavaliers are in discussions with the Boston Celtics in order to acquire Paul Pierce for picks #31 and #33. Pierce is due to make 15 million this year.

Pierce is one the greatest forwards to play the game and is definitely in the twilight of his career. However I have no idea why the Cavs would make this move. Pierce isn't the same Paul Pierce from a few years back. Also, his contract would put a burden on us to even to be able to get players better than him this offseason. The only reason I would see the Cavs do this is if they want a mentor to a SF that they are planning to draft (which at this point is either Porter, Karasev, or Bullock).

Trading for Pierce in my opinion just seems like we are rushing to get back into the playoffs. Plus Pierce isn't even a long term solution and only would hold us back.
