Every fan wants their team to make big moves over the summer. Usually this is just senseless blather as fans expect way too much or disregard the idea of Salary Cap and other integral components of running a team. However, this summer could actually be the summer that the Cavaliers do the unthinkable and trade for a legitimate impact player without selling the farm, so to speak. If you frequent FTS then you've read the constant reports of the Cavaliers actively seeking to trade assets in order to become a contender as soon as next year. Now I would like to senselessly blather, as aforementioned, and give what I think would be the best possible trade scenario for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It has been reported that the Bobcats weren't interested in trading Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Which translates " we aren't interested unless the price is right." From the Bobcats perspective in a deal with the Cavs, the right price would have to include a young building block along with picks. So, I think a trade could look something like this....
Cleveland receives: MKG and the 2014 first rounder Charlotte received from Detroit in the Ben Gordon trade
If you'll notice, Cleveland gives up quite a bit, but still keeps the #1 overall pick, which is extremely important.
Everything after this hinges on the Cavaliers pick which is essentially down to Alex Len or Nerlens Noel. If the Cavaliers take Len, then they are left with a hole at Power Forward. If they select Noel then they are left with a hole at whichever spot Noel chooses not to play. With the loss of Luke Walton's 6 million dollar contract and Daniel "Boobie" Gibson 4 million dollar contract, the cave have enough cap space to sign a high level player. Perhaps not a max level player( Dwight Howard or Chris Paul) but other players like Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, or even one of the knee-less wonders ( Andrew Bynum or Greg Oden). Here are the starting lineups I would love to see...
Len Lineup( Len-up(deranged giggling ensues))
PG- Kyrie Irving
PF-Josh Smith at no more than 15 million per year
PG- Kyrie Irving
SG- Dion Waiters
SF- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
PF- Nerlens Noel with a good Knee
C- Al Jefferson
