Just reading the general conversations over the last few days and decided that this needs to be cleared up. Lebron James may or may not come back to Cleveland next year. More specifically, whether we drafted Bennett, Noel or Dellavedova, it would not alter the probability of the situation in the slightest. For the record I doubt he comes in 2014 but may come next time he is out of contract...
This needs to be clarified. The only factors that Lebron takes into account when making the basketball side of the decision will be Kyrie Irving
, Mike Brown
and the willingness of Gilbert and Grant to alter the roster accordingly. THAT'S ALL.
fits the bill of a 2nd star to pair him with, that is why he is factor. Mike Brown is the coach, that is why he is a factor. these 2 are obvious. What people need to realise is that Bennett, Waiters and Thompson would be easily tradeable to achieve the optimum 'Lebron line-up' once Lebron decides to make the move. Do you think Lebron considered people like Haslem and Chalmers when he considered Miami? Absolutely not. If we think Lebron wants to go somewhere with a rim protector (which is a popular opinion here), Grant would just go get a rim protector in trade or free agency. If we decide that the 3 prospects above are good fits for a Lebron and Kyrie team, we will keep them. If not we will trade them for better fits, throwing in picks if need be.
Most importantly, whoever we took in this draft would be a project one way or the other. Lebron has no business with projects, he wants to be in contention for a title every year and so he should, he's Lebron James. Put the two together, and hopefully it hits you that when Decision part 2 comes around, Lebron James won't be saying "I'm not taking my talents back home because they didn't take Nerlens Noel
." He will be saying "I'm taking/not taking my talents back home because I do/do not believe Kyrie Irving, Mike Brown and the Front Office are best placed to deliver championships...
