NBA Free Agency: Cavaliers interested in C.J. Watson

The Cavaliers are interested in speaking to C.J. Watson, according to HoopsWorld.

The Cavaliers have reached out to free agent point guard C.J. Watson, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.

Between this and the news that the Cavaliers are interested in Darren Collison, it looks like one of the top priorities of this offseason is going to be finding a legitimate backup point guard to Kyrie Irving. Given Irving's injury history and the struggles this team has seen at this spot over the past two seasons, it's a good sign that they're serious about addressing it.

Watson in particular played 80 games for the Brooklyn Nets this season, averaging 19 minutes per game as a 29 year-old six-season veteran. His per-36 averages were pretty solid, with 12.9 points and 3.8 assists while only averaging 1.6 turnovers. He's also a pretty solid shooter, with a 38% career three-point average, including 41% this past season. Considering that Watson would probably come pretty cheap (~$2-3 million per season), I'd be fine with this. The guy is a solid second-unit caretaker on offense, and is more offensively diverse than Shaun Livingston. It's certainly one of the realistic signings that the Cavaliers should be looking into this offseason.
