Just 1 week ago, the cavs were in a really great position. With 4 draft picks (including #1) and as much available cap space as anyone in the league, the cavs arguably had the most potential to improve and really make some noise. I think it's fair to say we were all pretty excited and feeling good about the future. Here's what has happened since then:
We had a draft that raised more questions than it answered...Again.
instead of flipping our second round picks for veterans or 1st round picks, we're flipping them for...more second round picks!!!
We sat and watched while the most impactful free agents signed elsewhere.
The only big man (arguably our biggest need) that seems to have any kind of mutual interest with the cavs is greg oden.
the most significant roster move we've made in the past few seasons netted us mo speights and wayne ellington, neither of whom will be with the cavs next season.
due to these reasons, and others, i'm done giving chris grant the benefit of the doubt. i don't know what my expectations were, but i do know that what has happened over the past week has been tremendously disappointing. i'm sure he's tried to make moves that didn't work out (lamarcus aldridge, kevin love) but at this point you get judged by what you do, not what you try to do.
there is definitely still time, and i will happily eat my words when the time comes. in the meantime...
hey chris grant! DO SOMETHING!!!!
sorry for the rant. as always, i'm curious to hear your thoughts.
