Cavs mulling a few trade scenarios for Andrew Bynum, with target of Monday to choose one. Unlikely Cavs send out significant asset w/ Bynum.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) January 3, 2014
By Wojnarowski's phrasing there, it seems that the Cavaliers do have a couple of offers for the contract attached to Bynum's corpse. The Monday deadline is January 6th, or the day before the Cavaliers need to make their decision officially on Bynum.
I can't envision anyone actually trading for him to keep him when it seems obvious that, one way or another, he is going to be released. I'm not entirely sure what it means that the Cavaliers won't send out a significant asset with Bynum. Like, does Jarrett Jack count as a significant asset? Earl Clark? Alonzo Gee? It seems like in this scenario that both Pau Gasol and Luol Deng would be out, given that both the Bulls and Lakers have said they want other young assets. It would require a rather large reversal there to make one of these things happen.
Regardless, it seems like the Bynum era is going to end one way or another on Monday.
