A suggested strategy for the Cavaliers this summer

GM and Coach decisions aside. This is what I see as the best way to trim up the team and add talent at this crossroads.

Resign Hawes and let Deng walk. Draft a SF (take your pick- Rodney Hood, Dario Saric., etc..) Go after Trevor Ariza and Greg Monroe in free agency. That gives you a 3 and D veteran starting at the 3, and a experienced scoring big in the post in Monroe and he becomes your best big and he can potentially play either PF or C, like he did in Detroit. You have Delladova as backup PG, you can now get rid of Jarrett Jack (if you can, this early in his contact) as well as Tristan Thompson and Anderson Varejao (sad to see them go). And also you can let CJ Miles go or keep him depending on whether you can afford him. You have the depth and versatility with your backcourt and front court to deal with injuries. But you have financial flexibility there now and can add filler on the roster.

Your depth looks like this:

1. Kyrie/ Matthew Delladova

2. Dion Waiters/Sergei Karasev/ Carrick Felix

3. Trevor Ariza/ 2014 Draft pick SF

4. Anthony Bennett/Tyler Zeller

5. Greg Monroe/ Spencer Hawes

That's a nice roster! Somewhat light on experience in the game, but it's a young core of talent with some veterans and they seem to fit together. I have no idea about the salaries, but we definitely got rid of some. And granted we might not be able to trade Jack this season. Comments are welcome.
