Given that this is my first post, I am a bit shaky and rusty.
The Cavaliers must get it right this offseason that is for sure. To my understanding not a ton of players want to play for Cleveland due to the turmoil they have had the last few years or so, this is understandable. But with the right selection at the coaching position as well as the #1 pick, this team could change directions very quickly. They lucked into getting the #1 pick, with this it changes the whole outlook of this organization. No coach and a few weeks away from the draft, expect a lot of news to heat up involving the Cavs.
#1 idea: Keep the #1 Pick, Draft Joel Embiid, many are not set on him because of health or they are just too in love with the physical specimen in Andrew Wiggins (he is a great player), I believe if the Cavs check Embiid out, which is suppose to happen within the next week, he is what they need. They haven't had a center to block the lane for a very long time. He is a franchise piece, and with him paired with Kyrie Irving, that is a very scary combo.
#2 idea: Give up on the idea LeBron is coming back and draft Wiggins. He offers the most upside to him, plus have you saw him play in his good games? (Not his last game). He is a very young player and could develop into one of the greatest.
#3 idea: Not an idea but more of a statement, you CANNOT trade the #1 pick in THIS Draft for someone not named Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, or someone in that nature, it is not worth it at all. Adding a player of that caliber would be franchise changing. Depth was an issue to an extent, but they need to focus on their starters first and giving the pick up for someone such as Marc Gasol is just not worth it.
Also, the Cavaliers MUST get Kyrie to sign the 5 year MAX deal, they need him as their cornerstone for the franchise, and locking him up for 5 years allows them to focus their attention to other things.
David Griffin, I believe has done a great job as GM of this team since becoming interim GM, after the firing of Chris Grant. And with him leading the coaching search, it really adds excitement to the candidates that come up as well as the upcoming season.
