Who are your Eastern Conference All-Star Game Reserves?

p_ellison's list:

2nd Team-- G: Jeff Teague, G: Kyrie Irving, G: Jimmy Butler, F: Paul Millsap, C: Al Horford

Final Two-- G: Kyle Korver, F: Nikola Vucevic

The way they have dominated this year, I think that the "Big 3" Atlanta Hawks should 100% be All-Stars, especially in the weak East. The more I looked at it though, the more I wanted Korver on that team as well. The guy has a True Shooting of 74.1%!!!!! That would blow away the former NBA record. For a guard, it is far more impressive. Tim Legler and Steve Kerr both had high 60s TS% in the 95-96 season, but neither scored in double digits. When teams go to play the Atlanta Hawks, they have to develop a plan as to how to stop this guy. I don't think anyone else in the league, except maybe Steph Curry, if given his role, could do what he is doing. Combined with his quality defense, the Hawk's record, and the fact that the East isn't loaded, he is deserving.

Jimmy Butler is my first guy off the bench. He has far and away the best Estimated Wins Added of any player in the Eastern Conference not named LeBron James. While I don't love that stat, it's pretty indicative of his two-way contribution. I would have had him as a starter.

I think Kyrie is a deserving All Star. He started off this season lights out, and though he's cooled off a bit, he's been a regular dominant force this season. I think his overall body of work fends off the other guards vying for that spot. Dwayne Wade has better total numbers, but he's been injured, his usage rate is absurd, and his team is 18-24 with a considerable amount of talent. Kemba Walker has been good, but his TS% is absolutely awful. I would consider the argument for Brandon Knight, but his lack of Kyrie's ball control is the distinguishing factor.

My last spot is between Vucevic, Bosh, Love, and Drummond. I wanted to pick the latter; Drummond has the best defensive and rebounding metrics, and the Detroit rally has been fun to watch. I also saw him in person, and it was hilariously obvious that he was the best player in the building. I just can't vote in a guy with a sub .500 TS%. Bosh has the best TS% of the bunch, but the worst rebounding rate and least games played. He also gets the Dwayne Wade treatment of a high usage rate on a bad team with high expectations. Plus thinking about Chris Bosh making 10 All-Star Games in a row makes me feel a little sick.

It's a true tossup for me between Love and Vucevic. Love is a better player. If we played two more week at this level, I would probably pick Love. However, Vucevic is my choice. In almost every single category, he and Love are neck and neck, but Vucevic is just a bit higher: PER, TRB%, AST%, etc. Love gets to the line far more, but Vucevic gets more blocks and plays overall better defense. If the Cavs had won two more games during that stretch LeBron was out, I'd probably switch this. But I don't mind dropping a line for a guy playing quality, efficient basketball on a rebuilding team. I don't think he'll make the real team, but this is how I would vote.

Who would you choose as the final seven?
