Stephen Jackson traded to Bobcats

Stephen Jackson traded to Bobcats

It looks as though Stephen Jackon won't be coming to Cleveland this year, as the Warriors have agreed to trade him and guard Acie Law to the Bobcats for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. There has been rumors about the Cavs trying to acquire him to give them more scoring in the backcourt but the team was hesitant to make a move this early in the season, choosing to wait and see how their new lineup progressed.

Brian Windhorst reports that the Cavs had talked to the Warriors and supposedly had an offer on the table. The names involved included Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Delonte West, and even a sign-and-trade with Wally Szczerbiak. The Cavs didn't want to give up an size for Jackson and would only include Z if they promised to buy him out and he'd return to the Cavs after 30 days. But the Cavs' improved play the past couple weeks made them reluctanct to improve their offer and the Warriors wanted to get rid of Jackson as soon as possible. In the end, the deal they got from Charlotte may have been better than any which the Cavs were offering, plus they got to send Jackson to a team where he didn't want to play.

The Cavs play Golden State on Tuesday night so we may see those new players in uniform then.

A very fun fantasy league where you are the General Manager. You start with an actual NBA teams roster and can make trades, sign players, etc. The scoring is different than the traditional format. Instead all of a players stats are combined into one number. There are 3 GM spots available. (Cleveland, Indiana, and the LA Lakers) Hope you check it out. It's a lot of fun!

Delonte West can get support from the fans, which he did in his first game back. He can get help from the Cavs' medical staff, which he has diligently over the last two years and especially over the last month. But ultimately his greatest support system is his teammates and they are a major reason why he was back on the floor against the Bobcats.
After the game, Shaquille O'Neal said that he and LeBron James went to coach Mike Brown and Danny Ferry and ask that West be cleared to play as soon as possible. It would not have happened without the doctors' approval, but Shaq left the impression that he and LeBron's request was taken into account. Apparently, West has been petitioning for their help to get cleared to play and they showed faith in him in sticking their neck out and asking for him back.

I played all right. I only took 11 shots, missed some chippies I don't usually miss. We've just got to get into the flow a little better and do the little things -- box out, take care of the ball, keep playing hard. If we do that, we'll be fine.

Right now he is, I think he's active for tomorrow night. It is still up in the air, I'm not sure. We hope he's active and he's ready to go.

He's been here and he's worked hard every day in practice to get in game shape and be ready for the season. He knows the system, the system hasn't changed. He's a fast learner and he's ready to play.

UPDATE - Cleveland Cavaliers player Delonte West and his wife reportedly got into a spat Saturday evening that ended with West's wife filing a domestic violence report.

The two reportedly fought at their apartment when Delonte tried to take her wedding ring off. Mrs. West left their home and headed to Cleveland Hopkin's International Airport, where she filed a domestic violence report.

Cleveland Police tell 19 Action News there were no signs of abuse or injury. Mrs. West then got on her flight and flew out of Cleveland.
