Marion Trade Rumors Untrue

You never say never in the NBA; perhaps circumstances will change. But as of right now the Cavs and Heat are not in trade talks concerning Marion and Varejao. This is from multiple team sources. That is just so you know I'm not making it up or whatever, but it makes sense if you just think about it.

Right now the Cavs are not sure what they want to do, but they don't want to mess with this team's chemistry. They are considering their options, but history tells us that teams don't really get serious about trading for expiring contracts (which is what the Cavs have to use) until near the trading deadline. That is a long way away and options will be discussed for those months.

What the Cavs need is another big man and Marion isn't a big man and Varejao is. So if they made such a deal they'd be in worse shape. Which is why I said before, it doesn't make much sense.

Also, if the Cavs are going to use Wally Szczerbiak's contract they are going to go for a home run. This next trade very well may be the most important in Cavs history. So it has to be just right. I will write about this a lot more in the coming weeks, just know that right now this rumor isn't true -- Brian Windhorst

Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas suffered a left ankle sprain with 9:39 remaining in the fourth quarter in Wednesday's game in Philadelphia. He did not return to the game. He was examined by Dr. Richard Parker at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health today. X-rays were negative and a moderate left ankle sprain is confirmed. He is listed as OUT for Friday’s game versus Philadelphia and his status will be updated as appropriate.

Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson left Tuesday night's game versus the Toronto Raptors with 9:50 remaining in the second quarter with a sprained left great toe. He was seen by Dr. Jim Sferra at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health today. A MRI and x-rays were performed. He is estimated to be out two weeks and will continue to be reevaluated.

The article talked about how most teams won Championships with at least a big three. It points out the few exceptions of winning with a big two. And it talked about how it is possible but very rare to win a championship with just one star and a bunch of solid role players.

Overall though, the writer likes the chances of the Cavs winning it all as long as they continue to share the ball on the offensive end.

Cleveland Cavaliers - The Cavs are the hottest team in the league having won seven straight. It wasn't too hard to fathom that they would be improved offensively with the addition of Mo Williams, but No. 1 in the NBA? If they tighten up the defense, this is a serious title contender.
Los Angeles Lakers - So the Lakers aren't perfect (Friday's loss to the Pistons was both their worst offensive and worst defensive game so far), but they'll have the opportunity to stay close to it with this stretch where they play seven of eight games at home with only one back-to-back.
Boston Celtics - After Friday's loss to the Nuggets, Doc Rivers called the Celtics "the most miserable 8-2 team I've ever seen." Beating the Bucks in OT the next night probably didn't raise their spirits. Not turning the ball over so much might.
Houston Rockets - There have been highs and lows for the Rockets so far this season. Blowing a 14-point, fourth quarter lead in San Antonio on Friday was certainly a low, but they recovered well with a comfortable, defense-fueled win over the Hornets the next night.
Phoenix Suns - Suspensions, ejections and flagrant fouls? The new Suns have an edge, and they also have Shaquille O'Neal playing at his highest efficiency since his first season in Miami. Thursday's matchup with the Lakers (in Phoenix, TNT, 10:30 p.m. ET) is a must-watch.
